One of the reasons that Sequencher is so popular is its display of data from automated sequencers. You can view both individual chromatogram files and aligned chromatogram files in Sequencher. Project files created by version 4.1 and higher of Sequencher (Mac or Windows) are entirely cross-platform compatible. Additionally, Sequencher is backwards compatible with previous project file formats on the same platform (any Mac version of Sequencher can read project files created by a previous version of Sequencher on the Mac, and the same is true for Windows).

KeyServer is a license management application available from Sassafras Software. The network version of Sequencher includes a limited version of this software for managing Sequencher licenses on a network. Sequencher licenses can be served over TCP/IP, AppleTalk, or IPX. Sequencher for Windows will work on a Novell Server network (although not on the Novell server itself), but the Macintosh version is not supported in this environment.

The network requires that you designate one computer as your server. The server may be any Macintosh or Windows based computer in your network, but it is best if it has a static IP address and if it is left on at all times.

There is no limit to the number of computers on which you may install Sequencher. You may install Sequencher on your office computer or lab computer, share it with a colleague or take it home and use it on your laptop. All standalone versions of Sequencher come with a hardware key that enables the program to operate in full mode. When the key is attached, Sequencher is fully functional. When the key is not attached, you can still use Sequencher to open your projects and review your data.

Gene Codes does not limit your number of installations, only the number of concurrent users, and all of your users will receive technical support. Sequencher licenses never expire so you can always use the version of Sequencher you originally purchased. In addition, you will receive upgrades to the latest version of Sequencher for as long as you are a member of the Maintenance Program.

When we talk about a sequencer in relation to MIDI, we often refer to a computer program that allows us to record, edit and playback the events that are in a MIDI file, just like a spreadsheet program will allow us to enter, edit and print (playback ;-) the data that's in a spreadsheet file. Note: The word 'Sequencer' is also used for the person who makes a MIDI sequence by means of sequence software. It's a bit of a language problem like with MIDIs and MIDI files.

data replication engine provides flexible database replication and scheduling. It also enables authorized administrators to manage database replication schedules for the entire network from any site. Multiple and overlapping schedules can be defined for times when you want replication to be performed and time when you do not want replication to be performed. Additionally, the data replication engine can be integrated with your application using the data replication engine APIs.

Different data files can be used simultaneously for input in different modules (as mentioned before, different modules can process the same or different data files). From the File Manager, data files may be opened directly (into the STATISTICA File Server application, see below) by double-clicking on them. Each data file will be opened into a separate File Server application window (see the next topic); in this manner, you may simultaneously open as many data files as you wish.

Sequencher version 4.7, our previous release, is the last release that supported Windows NT and Macintosh OS X 10.2.8. Sequencher version 4.8, our current release, is the last release that supports Macintosh OS X 10.3.9. Sequencher 4.8 is supported on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, Vista, and on Macintosh OS X version 10.3.9 and higher.

Yes, if you have the full version of KeyServer from Sassafras, it is possible to add Sequencher license management to it.

The prompt is from your Macintosh operating system. When you install an application on OSX the operating system insures that you have administrative privileges by requiring a password. This error message is possible for both standalone and network versions of Sequencher.

Download the 16 Channel Multitrack Template, save it in your Cakewalk folder or the folder you specified in Tools | Global Options | Folders | Templates. Choose Tools | Project Options | Clock and select MIDI Sync. This tells Cakewalk to use the external sequencer as a clock source, instead of using Cakewalk's internal clock. Press record in Cakewalk. The "Waiting for MIDI Sync" message will display.

MetaSynth is a non-realtime composition and sound design too. As such, it does not any MIDI capabilities. However, MetaSynth can be integrated with MIDI-based systems in a number of ways. Xx, our MIDI-based algorithmic composition tool, read MIDI files and export them to MetaSynth. Also, MetaSynth-generated sound file can be imported into any audio-based MIDI sequencer.

We can use OCR/ICR/automated technology to capture data for many projects. OCR allows the computer to recognize characters, lines, tables, or graphs in a document instead of having a person view and type the data. Software is also available or is developed to automate HTML/SGML and XML tagging. The printing on each document is clear with consistent separation between letters and sentences, columns in tables, surrounding graphics, etc.
