Washington Learns is the name of an 18-month study, launched by Governor Gregoire in 2005, to examine Washington State's education system and better integrate early learning, K-12, and post-secondary education. United Way of King County sits on the Early Learning Advisory Committee of Washington Learns and has been instrumental in advocating for our state's youngest citizens and their parents and caregivers.

Washington’s medical marijuana law (Chapter 69.51A RCW) was enacted by voters in 1998 as an initiative. It allows doctors to legally recommend medical marijuana to patients for some medical conditions. Under state law, patients may possess a 60-day supply of medical marijuana if it is based on a doctor’s written recommendation. However, a 60-day supply has not yet been defined in law or rule.

The Campaign arranges for all YLT members to stay at a hotel during their time in Washington. The YLT is chaperoned at all times. At the hotel, YLT members stay in a room with one other YLT member of the same sex. The YLT girl’s rooms are all on one floor and the YLT boy’s rooms are all on another floor. Four Campaign staff members stay at the hotel with the YLT each night and security guards are hired to patrol the halls where the YLT members are staying.

To establish a lawn in western Washington, choose a combination of turftype tall fescue grasses and turftype perennial rye grasses. A mix that adds up to about 90% of these two grass seed types will grow well in either sun or light shade in western Washington. Turftype perennial ryegrass takes full sun and stands up to traffic. Georgetown University Transportation Society (GUTS) provides shuttle bus service to several parts of the city.
