Our trees are grown from specially selected nursery seeds. We move the trees from the nursery to the field for planting in June-July when the rainy season which begins in May is well underway.

We recommend using Jirdon’s Tree and Shrub fertilizer. It is formulated specifically for trees and shrubs in the Rocky Mountain region. You should apply a light application around May 15, June 15, and July 31. If you are fertilizing less often shoot for May 15 and July 15. You don’t want to fertilize after the first part of August. You don’t want to push too much new growth late in the season.

Clear any weeds or grass from the area where the hole is to be dug. Dig the hole to a suitable size (see above). Break up the soil in the bottom of the hole with a spade and mix in some compost (we recommend Greenshutters Multipurpose Compost with Osmocote 12-14 month controlled-release fertiliser).
