Fluent FrenchThe portion I understand feels no different than if it were expressed in English. It's the portion I don't understand which makes French still seem fuzzier to me than English, as if there were a slight fog. Understanding feels more natural than speaking, where I am always aware of my accent. When I read a book in French and suddenly there is a quotation in English, the contrast is striking.
