We do not recommend going over any existing floor covering. Also, if the old flooring is removed, we recommend removing the old adhesive. There is no way to guaranty that a bad reaction won't take place between our adhesive and the old. At the same time, if the old flooring is not removed, there is no guaranty that it will not lift as a reaction to the adhesives or it may not be bonded solidly to begin with.

Floor tile adhesives (mastic) can be removed with chemical paint strippers or citric acid solvents (delemonene), which do not emit VOC fumes but are effective only on modern water-based adhesives. Mastic removers are sold in stores. We use our Lightning Strip paint & mastic remover, particularly for the old, thick, black mastic. Test it on a small area first. Avoid filling the pores in concrete with diluted mastic. Afterwards, wash the area to remove any residue.

Use Sticker-Off! Decal Adhesive Remover. Just spray it on the adhesive, allow a few minutes for the product to penetrate and then wipe away with a clean, soft cloth.

Ceramic tile can be bonded to ceramic tile with a polymer modified thinset BUT your installation will only be as good as the weakest tile in the old installation.

Ceramic tile in either glazed or unglazed form do not need to be sealed. These products are impervious to moisture and topical sealers will not properly adhere to them. Also, you can not change or alter the appearance or the sheen of a ceramic tile by adding a sealer. Therefore, a sealer in not recommended for glazed and unglazed surfaces.

No, we do not recommend doing this, as a wall is generally a P.E.I. 1 tile, that is it has a very low wearing and will not last very long.

Wall tiles are generally more porous, which helps with their adhesion to walls, the glaze is used more for the appearance, and is resistant to detergents etc. On the contrary, floor tiles have low porosity, with low to medium water absorption, which will give them better technical characteristics, as the glaze is more than the look, it is also used to prevent wear and promote scratch resistance.

You can use a two part ???rubber based or latex modified??? flexible adhesive to tile directly onto the timber. (Ensure the product chosen is manufactured specifically for this purpose). The timber will need to be clean and stable. (You will need to confirm floor joists and spans will be acceptable). No. Wall tile has a lower breaking strength than floor tile. By installing wall tile on floors, you run the risk of the tile cracking or breaking over time.

Yes, this can be done and is being done more and more, as it is quicker and you have less disruption. You do however have to ensure that the old tiles are in the correct condition to be tiled on top of, wall or floor. The old tiles must be adhered correctly, not be hollow or have any cracks in them. (It is recommended to have a professional check them out.) You also have to use a special adhesive for the application, like Unibond, ask your sales assistant for more information.
