For photographic and fine art editions, our ideal file format is a flattened RGB tiff. We also accept jpegs, PDFs, and native Adobe PhotoShop formats. Optimum image resolution is 300-360 dpi at the final size to be printed. Resolution below 150 dpi may show pixilation. Display and design files can be submitted in most popular design programs, such as InDesign, Illustrator, or Quark. Please accompany design files with image links and fonts (or outlined fonts).

Artwork for all custom sign letters, plaques and logos need to be vector based. Vector--eps, ai, dxf, cdr--(not jpeg, gif or bitmap) files are required for provided production artwork. Art charges of $25.00 or more apply to non-compliant art to facilitate file conversions. NO art charges for text-only, standard-size plaques. Bitmaps, tiffs, gifs and jpegs are welcomed for layout & logo submissions.

Most common formats are jpeg, gif, png, bmp. The larger the file is, the better are details viewed. Any photos are good as long as our artists can clearly see the details of your photo.You can send whatever photos you have on hand. We will review them and in case they are not good enough to be used for a portrait painting, we will contact you further to make sure you send us photos good enough to use in the process.

My standard file format is JPG in full resolution (10.2 mega pixels). The recommended printing sizes vary picture by picture, but I have seen very nice poster size enlargements from my pictures.

Your digital file needs to be at least 200 dpi with a 1:1 ratio on image size. Example: you want your image size to be 40" x 30" when it is printed, digital file must be 40" x 30" at 200 dpi or 6000 x 8000 pixels which is approximately 137 Mb file in TIFF format. TIFF is best for us. Although we can also work with many other formats when necessary.

We prefer Adobe Illustrator (.ai) files that are separated with colors on different layers. This file format allows us to scale the artwork to the desired size. We can also use Adobe Photoshop (.psd) files, or .eps or .jpg files formats. File formats that are not in the Illustrator (.ai) format may be an additional charge.

Shorten (extension .shn) is an audio compression scheme written by Tony Robinson of SoftSound that can compact wav files without subtracting out any frequencies. It's "lossless"- everything in the original wav is there, so that full quality is maintained. For many traders of live music, Shorten files (shns) therefore have an undisputed advantage over "lossy" mp3-format files.

A minimum of 100 ppi (pixels per inch) at the final output size is suggested. (An example would be: 6"x6" original to be output 20"x20". 20 divided by 6 = 3.3. So you are enlarging your image 4 times. 4x100ppi = 400 ppi. You should scan your original at 400 ppi, when your image is enlarged 4 times the resolution goes down 4 times, resulting in a 20x20 at 100 ppi.) MP3 (Standard MPEG 1 Layer-3) is the encoding format we accept. Do not upload any other format (this includes MP3Pro of course) as your song won't be approved then.

Only good quality photos can make it onto our labels. Color and black and white photos are both acceptable. Save your photo as a .JPG in RGB image mode (not CMYK). Use the lowest compression (or highest quality) setting possible. High compression will make a smaller file size, but will blur your photo and we won't be able to use it. All images are delivered in digital format (on disc). Each image is delivered in color as well as black & white. Additionally, there is a full resolution copy of each image, as well as an email-friendly version. The full resolution files are 3000 X 2008 pixels. In other words you can print the pictures up to 24" X 36" without losing quality.

You can select the same format, and select file parameters you want to change. Audio Convert can change the parameter without changing file format.

Within the next couple of years, a definitive answer to whether thimerosal is linked to autism should be at hand. The native Dia file format (extension .dia) is XML compressed with GZip. You can select not to compress the files in the Preferences or in the save dialog.

XCF is GIMP's "native" format. This will preserve all information about an image, including the layers.

We encourage you to send .TIF files or native documents from Adobe Photoshop® (.psd). .JPEGs and .GIF files are also acceptable although there are certain limitations Please make sure your document is saved at the size you want it printed and that it has a resolution of 300 pixels per inch or greater.

There is not a prescribed format for the log file. The log file is to aid diagnosing problems in an executable. In deciding which information to write to the log file, participants should avoid making the log file too large. If too much information is reported, the file could be too large. If the file is too large it may not be possible for FRVT 2006 personnel to search the log file to provide you with useful information.
