The art we feature is gathered from a variety of sources. We deal directly with museums for many of the pieces we use; some transparencies we rent from art photo suppliers. Some pieces we find through contacts with Christian artist associations, some come to us direct from the artists, and some we find by looking through books of art (usually published by museums, with religious art only a sub-section of the book).

Our favorite is powder makeup -- blush or eye shadows! Use the same little sponge applicator to rub the color onto the dried casting that comes with the make-up. Other applications are soft pastel chalks, acrylic paints, glitters an even permanent marker pens. Water colors are very lovely but work best if the dried cotton art is first sprayed with our Spray Clear Sealant to keep the wet paints from spreading.

In some cases we may not be able to use the art if it is not in an acceptable format. We use a variety of professional artists, including the fabulous Fortin and Sanders, to ensure a high-quality product.

Unfortunately, prints of cover art are not available from us. In most cases they are not available even from the supplier of the image. Art prints are very expensive to produce, and few people are interested in buying them -- which means that almost no one markets them. Some museums have prints available for sale in their gift shops, but usually these are prints of pieces housed in their museum.

The credentialling requirements of the dozens of insurance plans make it impossible to get a locum tenens physician credentialled in time for coverage, even if I started six months before my vacation. If you are going to use paint or felt marker, to be on the safe side, why don't you complete your entry on a separate piece of paper then mount it to the page in the book using an acid-free/archival-safe glue or tape (you can find this in a scrap booking section of a craft store). Be as creative as you wish, but keep in mind that these books will go through some wear and tear through the mail and with all the handling.

Body-Art paint should be cleaned out of the airbrush with Airbrush Cleaner ONLY. IMPORTANT: Do not clean out with water. Spray cleaner through airbrush and clean out paint cup with a clean sable brush. Avoid cleaning with cotton swabs, as the fibers may become lodged in the nozzle.

When I paint I am trying to express a feeling; love, despair, happiness, etc. I use body language to tell my story. I also believe art is subjective. The meaning of a painting is defined by the person looking at it. For example, though personal pain may be my inspiration for painting a particular painting, when you look at that painting you may see something totally different. By adding facial expressions, it limits the scope and appeal of my work.

I got my Bachelor's of Fine Art in Spring, 2005. Four years after I started the comic. And they didn't teach comiking at my university- I didn't mostly contemporary mixed media and conceptual drawing while I was there. Everything I've learned about drawing digitally, about drawing sequential and stylized comic-format artwork I learned on my own time outside of college. No one starts out doing something for the first time with uber-mad-phat skills. You have to refine them.
