There is a large intersection and it is the comedian's job to find that intersection. It depends. I trust myself with my material. I know what should work so I rarely throw anything away (unless I had a hunch it wasn't very good to begin with). I've got a bit that rarely works, but I love it, so I try and work on it whenever I can.
