A) Practice! I've been making sites since 1999 and in 7+ years you tend to pick things up without realizing it. I can't teach anyone personally, but using the tutorials on Darkest Faerie Lair and Spider's Web Tutorials can teach you quite a bit.

How do I make an absolute file URL? Q: How can I make CSS font-size the same as HTML <font>?

Code Style: HTML & XHTML frequently asked questions (FAQ...
There are a number of issues in your question, but the key point is that there is no necessary correspondence between HTML font sizes and the CSS font-size property. Yes, these mechanisms affect fonts in a similar way, but any size match will be dependent on the browser and default font settings any user has. This will have to be a process of trial, error and approximation.

CSS syntax and markup Q: How can I combine a style rule with HTML code?

Code Style: Cascading Style Sheets frequently asked question...
To apply so called "inline" styles, use the style attribute of the element you want to style. <p style="font-size: larger; text-transform: uppercase;"> Paragraph text </p> It is not possible to combine rules in a CSS stylesheet, but you can assign multiple classes to a single element in a space separated list... General usability advice is that people expect hyperlinks to be underlined, so your navigation may be overlooked if they are not.

How can I learn HTML? Will you teach me? Will you make me a web site?

Tom's Xena Page FAQ
No, I won't make a web site for you, I barely have enough time to do my own. The best way to learn HTML is to go out and buy a book. There are zillions of good ones on the subject, such as Laura LeMay's Complete Teach Yourself HTML Kit. I learned by downloading an html editing program and studying what each code did.

Code Style: HTML & XHTML frequently asked questions (FAQ...
The HTML code &nbsp; is known as an entity. In effect it is a special symbol that represents a non-breaking space. HTML text may be displayed in a Web browser window at almost any width. How did you learn HTML?

Meg's Place FAQ
I taught myself HTML in early 1997. There are many books and sites out there to help you. I even have a HTML Help Section up if you need it. Sometimes it's also helpful to view the source of a web page to see how it's made up. However, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you never steal or copy someones source, layout, idea, etc. Looking at someone's source should only be done to learn more about how html is put together and used.

Honestly, im at a loss. this works for everyone else, so if you followed the instructions EXACTLY - then I have no clue why it doesnt work. I've just looked at your websites CSS sheet and your forum source code. You do NOT have a style entry for that design. First I want to thank you for this. It really look great on my site and really help getting more clear. One question though. Is it possible to have a smaller space around the text. It seems like a big white space for nothing.

Getting started with CSS Q: What are your general guidelines about CSS?

Code Style: Cascading Style Sheets frequently asked question...
One of the key issues for authoring stylesheets is to be aware of the complex variety of software and hardware combinations and configurations that people use on the Web, and concede that you cannot predict or ultimately control the way your documents are presented to users. Therefore it is vital that the underlying markup of your HTML document makes sense without CSS.

CSS styling tips Q: How do I set the background colour in CSS?

Code Style: Cascading Style Sheets frequently asked question...
When you set the background colour of a Web page using CSS you should also set the text colour, to ensure that there is a legible contrast between them. This is because some people configure their browsers to display Web pages with their own style sheet, which may have its own text colour setting. If you set the background colour without the text colour, your background may be the same as the reader's foreground text colour.

Furious Angel Com | Crazy. But True.
The first site I ever designed myself was a Silent Hill shrine collective called White Noiz, a site that I had attached to my original and fairly popular Silent Hill fansite, silenthillheaven.com. But as Yates did all of the design and I didn’t feel comfortable a) playing with that or b) fucking it up, instead I figured that a small personal site would give me the freedom to experiment in peace.

No. HTML can be tricky sometimes, and I'm not going to become an HTML-help site. If you're really interested in learning HTML or getting help with things, I suggest HTMLgoodies.com, or do a search on Yahoo or Google for pages that offer the help you're looking for.

How well did the students learn to design websites?

FAQ - Teaching Websites in Business Classes
It is important to note that this training will not, and did not, turn our students into web design professionals. We aimed to help the students climb the initial learning curve. Once the students climbed the steep part of the curve when learning the basics of a program like Dreamweaver, further learning about the program's capacities becomes much easier. For many students, this proved to be true, as they quickly learned how to use some advanced functions in designing their web pages.

Q: How did you learn to eat fire?

Thomas Wood, Pyrojuggler ~ Frequently Asked Questions
I learned from an ex-circus performer, Mike Moreena. I had seen a woman do a fire act, and fell in love with the art. I said to my roommate that I wanted to learn to eat fire and like magic within a week Mike showed up saying "I would like to learn to juggle. I can't pay you anything, but Ican teach you to eat fire." A deal was struck. I learned to eat fire, but teaching Mike to juggle proved challenging. He can do it but it took a while.

Will you teach me? Where can I learn?

The Lizardman - Frequently Asked Questions
I do occasionally do small seminars and workshops for performance or theatre groups but for the most part I do not teach acts or stunts. Those wishing to learn should seriously consider the danger and seek out qualified professional training (it would have saved me many years and scars). The sideshow school at Coney Island is an excellent start and is run and taught by friends of mine like the incomparable Todd Robbins.

Q - When did you start drawing? Can you teach me?

The Art of Synnabar: FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
A - Like a lot of other artists, I've drawn for as long as I could hold a writing implement - that's back to when I was 2 or 3. I LOVE to help teach people, but I really think it's best for artists to learn from LOTS of sources - art classes, personal study of textbooks, observation of things in real life, study of art through history, and so on. It's best to learn from a LOT of different things, rather than just one or two sources, because that way you're more likely to develop your own style.

I have no experience with websites. Do I need to learn HTML or web programming to do this?

FAQ
No. If you can use a word processor, then you can setup your own website. I recommend a couple of good free html editors you can use to develop your site (an html editor is like a word processor on steroids & is what people use to develop websites). You download the editor then spend a little time learning how to use it ( if you can type & use a mouse, you'll be OK ). Then you develop your site. You can also use a service like SBI to setup your site. I highly recommend them.

No. Not unless you pay me ?100 an hour to do that. I have a fulltime job, and when I'm not working to earn a pitiful amount, I am doing custom designs which I am also paid for. I cannot afford to take valuable time out of my schedule to teach you for free. If you want to learn HTML, then all I can say is go to Lissa Explains. But don't ask me because I simply don't have the time. Sorry, but that's about it. I taught myself HTML, so I'm sure you can do the same.

No. Sorry but I don't have time. HTML is sort of complicated and I don't really have time to teach each person that asks. I might come out with some basic tutorials later in the year though. If you want html help, try using an online resource like Lissa Explains. It's specifically designed to teach kids html and I can't explain it better than she does so if you don't understand her tutorials, I'm afraid I can't help you.

What is "presentational markup"? Q: Where can I find out more about CSS?

Code Style: Cascading Style Sheets frequently asked question...
The primary source of answers to frequently asked questions about CSS is the comp.infosystems.www.authoring.stylesheets (C.I.W.A.S) newsgroup FAQ. If the site was designed for a fixed size then it may be quite difficult to adjust. If the widths of the page elements are set exclusively in the CSS, not in HTML tables, you may be in with a chance; it would make the job easier. But the standard markup of the page may be the limiting factor.
