Both humorous and more serious characters seem to work in Shiver. Our best suggestion is to decide what sort of storylines you'd rather play in and then build a character off that. If you're not sure if your character is too humorous or too serious for the storylines you'd like to play, feel free to ask!

It could be caused by several things. If you are using an OpenWindows cmdtool as your terminal, any escape sequences (such as those produced by cursor keys) will be swallowed up and never reach zsh. Either use shelltool or avoid commands with escape sequences. You can also disable scrolling from the cmdtool pane menu (which effectively turns it into a shelltool). If you still want scrolling, try using an xterm with the scrollbar activated.

You probably have the extendedglob option set in which case ^ and # are metacharacters. ^a matches any file except one called a, so the line is interpreted as bindkey followed by a list of files. Quote the ^ with a backslash or put quotation marks around ^a.

Internally, Leo represents all strings as unicode. Leo translates from a particular encoding to Unicode when reading .leo files or derived files. Emoticons are combinations of keyboard characters used universally around the 'net to help a writer show their intent to the reader. For example, if someone wrote -- you might be afraid, unless the writer put a wink ;) or smile :) at the end to suggest they were kidding with you. You can use the following three emoticons in your message board notes and they will be automatically converted into the proper yellow smiley face: :) (smile), ;) (wink), :( (frown).

There are special fonts that were included in your installation, and they may not yet be recognized by your PC as being available. Therefore, use the Windows Explorer (or some other folder viewer) to find "C:\WINDOWS\FONTS" (or use the Windows Control Panel to find "Fonts." In the menu of that window, select "File," followed by "Install New Font."
