Polyester fabric is a tightly woven fabric with excellent resistance to water/coolant with moderate heat resistance when compared to other reinforcing fabrics. Polyester rope is bright white where as cotton rope is more of a beige color. Polyester rope will last longer outdoors then cotton rope. Some people say that cotton rope is more comfortable then polyester. This is largely a matter of opinion.

Lycra (Spandex) is softer and has greater stretch capability allowing for more flexibility. Its fabric has a rubberized elastic material. This is especially important for Synchro Swimmers. However due to the rubberized elastic material Lycra tends to breakdown earlier than Polyester because the chlorine attacks the rubberized elastic material in the fabric.

We are often asked this question from clients in the home furnishing industry as they often require to sublimate onto furniture with fabric that is part polyester and cotton. Generally speaking, the higher the percentage of polyester in the fabric the better the sublimation results. At minimum we recommend a blend of 60% polyester - or in other words the majority of the fabric should include polyester.

It is possible, but we don't recommend it. Polyester is more flexible, stronger, and has a proven history of success with our products. Also, be aware that some fiberglass tape and fabric is asphalt impregnated and will not work well with water-borne products.

Polyester is a man-made fabric which results in a garment which is extremely light and comfortable to wear, with excellent quick drying and chlorine resistant properties. Polycotton is a more natural fabric and feels more like the t-shirts that you put on your children. This is ideal for infant or sensitive skins, but takes a little longer to dry than polyester. Both fabrics achieve the same SPF of 50+ and fit in the same way.

a) Acetate: Acetate provides excellent drapability and softness, and is moth resistant. Acetate is dry-clean only. b) Polyester: Polyester is strong; moth resistant; resistant to stretching, most chemicals, and abrasion; is crisp and resilient when wet or dry; retains heat-set pleats and creases; is more wrinkle resistant than Acetate; and is easily washed in ordinary washers and dryers.

Both fabrics have been treated to be weather-resistant and can be left outside year-round without growing mold or mildew (though you may be able to preserve the life of your hammock by taking it in on the off-season). Sunbrella and olefin, even the quilted beds, can be left out in the rain and will dry just fine after the sun's been shining for a few hours. Both are color treated and won't fade easily.

Surlast is a polyester and Sunbrella is an acrylic. Although both fabrics offer very similar specifications, the sunbrella's fading resistancy is higher than surlast.

Polyester films, like USI OptiClear, are clearer and a higher quality than lower grade films, which tend to be foggy. Premium films also endure extreme environments and severe stress conditions more favorably. Films with higher polyester content are more rigid and feel thicker than films with more adhesive content. Cotton rope hammocks are made from natural fibers and their soft cotton like feel results in a very comfortable hammock bed. These hammocks are typically beige in color (the natural color of cotton). Cotton rope hammocks are perfect for people who can take their hammock out of the elements on a normal basis to store. Hammocks made from polyester rope are designed to be weather resistant. As a result, these hammocks can have a very long lifespan.

Vulcan Arms, Inc. Carbon/Aramid receivers utilize a cutting edge technology method of manufacture. Long strand Carbon/Aramid fibers are hot tip injected with space age polymers to form each receiver. The resulting receiver is STRONGER and LIGHTER than aluminum. Carbon/Aramid has a tensile strength of approximately 5 times that of aluminum and is less than half the weight. Carbon/Aramid is also highly abrasion resistant, this means that the pin holes will not deform, even under extended use.

Before stenciling the fabric, wash and dry it according to label instructions. This will remove the sizing (chemical coating) in new fabric. If the sizing is not removed, your stencil paint will not bond well with the material. When stenciling on fabric, it is much easier if you can keep the fabric from moving around. Do this by using a light coat of spray adhesive on a piece of cardboard that is about 2" larger than the piece of fabric you want to stencil.

Polyester material is flame-retardant and will not support a flame if it is exposed to fire and will not melt on the wearer. Polyester no-see-um mesh is fine enough to keep even no-see-ums and ticks from biting the wearer but still allows air to move through the mesh so that it remains cool. Polyester no-see-um mesh is rugged and durable and won't easily snag, rip or tear while in the back woods.

Yes. The material has no negative effect on health. It causes no itching or skin irritation. Heat-welded polyester does not release fibres into the air (which is a cause of medical concern).
