MCC (Magic Cooking Club) is a linkshell for cooks on the Remora server. The Goal of MCC is to provide a support group for cooks, to share ideas and knowlege, to help cooks of lower levels, and to provide a craft-specific linkshell to equip while leveling your craft.

The library computers are open to all MCC students, including those enrolled in Distance Learning classes. In order to use the Multi-Use lab, you need to be enrolled in a course that required you to pay a special lab fee.

MCC provides a helpful environment for leveling your cooking craft, and gathers together cooks of all levels in order to share knowlege and experience. MCC members help each other out! It's also nice to have a craft-specific LS to chat in while crafting or leveling your cooking skill.

The MCC Lounge is the ideal place to study and relax. Located right near our office, the Lounge offers comfortable couches and a flat-screen television. Cultural books and magazines, scholarships and internship information, and upcoming events are found throughout the room. The Lounge is open until the campus center closes late at night. There are two administration periods per year. The spring administration is typically two-weeks long however, some examination centers may extend beyond this period due to higher numbers of candidates. In these cases, the two-week window is typically extended at the front end. Some examination centers may offer more than ten examination days. The fall administration is typically one-week long.

In most cases, you are encouraged to just come on in. However, if the nature of your visit will require a good deal of time (more than five minutes) or if you want to speak with someone in particular, you should make an appointment. You can do so by calling the office or stopping by the front desk.

MCC has assignments for singles, married couples and families with children. In international assignments school options (home schooling or local or private school) are agreed upon with Program Directors. Some assignments are better suited for singles or couples without children (often due to program budgets, available transportation and living space, and school options for children of workers). Parents with dependents under the age of 19 receive an allowance for each dependent.

All overseas and many North America assignments are volunteer positions. MCC provides necessary living support for service workers plus a small monthly stipend of $66 U.S. per adult in the United States and internationally, and $90 Cdn. in Canada. Travel to and from assignment locations is covered. Full medical coverage, including dental and optical, is provided to all service workers. Vacation and resettlement allowances also accrue during one's assignment.

MCC has offices in the United States and Canada which employ workers on a salaried basis. Many of the people in these assignments serve for periods longer than 2 or 3 years, and thus provide continuity to MCC's work. MCC loan assistance will be given to first-term workers according to the schedule of the workers' loan repayment plan up to $2,500 U.S./$2,500 Cdn. annually, not to exceed, in any given year, 25 percent of the original loan amount upon completion of studies.

Generally speaking, MCC partners with organizations with whom we have a history of relationship. These include churches, faith-based organizations, and other community-based groups. All decisions about partnerships are made at the country office level. MCC provides a variety of resources to support the HIV/AIDS work of our partners, including: financial grants, material resources such as AIDS Care Kits, short and long term volunteer service workers, and training and networking opportunities. They do! Members should take notice that this message board is a very public face of the MCC. Many paddlers or would-be-paddlers first learn of the MCC here and a few may have taken away bad first impressions from what they read. Most people who have been around for a while know that the MCC is an open and friendly group that just wants to spread the fun of paddling around.
