Different hammock lengths (ring to ring) will require different instructions. We can only make recommendations and you will have to tweak the installation to suit you. If your hammock is 13 feet long you will want a space approximately 15 feet apart with a foot of chain or rope at each end to adjust the hammock up or down from the ground. The hammock hooks that you hang the hammock from should be at least 4 to 5 feet off the ground.

The recommended distance from the ground for placement of the tree hook is between 4 and 5 feet. If your supports are closer than the above recommended distance, the tree hooks should be raised.

With so many hammock options available, there are almost unlimited places you can place them. The key to placement is to be sure the structure can support the weight capacity or an equivalent of a 4x4 to hold the body weight.

We recommend going to your local hardware store/Home Depot and buying two screw-in hooks. The hooks are approximately 3-4 inches long and about a ¼ inch thick. It is best to place them in a deck post (4x4), tree trunk, or something else that feels sturdy. Sinking them into drywall is not safe unless you are completely sure that the hook is going directly into the 2x4 stud inside the wall.

Hammock stands are normally 15 feet in length. Our hammocks easily fit in these stands but may need a bit of extension rope or a small length of chain in order to hang properly. If you are looking to hang a hammock between two trees/posts, then 12 feet apart might be a target distance. All of our regular sized hammocks are around 13 feet long. To fit a tight spot, you can also tie a large knot with the white cords on the end of each hammock in order to shorten the overall length.

The easiest and portable method to attach to two trees is Hammock Tree Straps. The strap loops around the tree and has a ring on the end to attach an “S” hook to each hammock end. These straps are tree friendly, made of polypropylene, and do no harm to the tree. The straps can be installed within minutes – perfect for camping or for moving your hammock from place to place. Naturally they can be installed in your favorite spot and only brought in during harsh seasons.

Hammock chairs or swings should be hung from a location capable of supporting at least 600 lbs. Overhead beams, supports, overhangs or tree limbs are some examples of what you can hang your swing on. Usually, a beam size of 4" X 4" is more than adequate to support this load.

We recommend that the centre of the hammock when pressed down is between 30 to 45 cms from the ground. High enough for your feet to touch the ground when you sit on the side of the hammock with your legs overhanging the side.

It's important to measure the space between the trees before you hang your hammock. You want to leave approximately 1' - 2' more than the total length of your hammock to make sure it hangs correctly. Our single hammocks are 11' feet long, and all fabric and rope hammocks are 13 1/2' feet long. However, some differences may occur; it is important to remember that a new hammock is like a new pair of jeans: "wear" your hammock as much as you can to stretch it to its full comfort level.

From a beam, install a J-Hook or Eye bolt horizontally only and attach the proper length of chain to bring the hammock chair to about 18” off the ground. Your feet should be flat on the ground or floor to easily get in and out of it.. If you install a j-hook or eye bolt straight up into the ceiling, every time you get in your chair that bolt will move slightly. Sooner or later it’s coming down. You must always install large single bolts horizontally.

The optimum distance between trees for hanging a deluxe hammock is 15 feet. For a single hammock, 12 feet of distance is needed. If the trees are less than the recommended distance, it will be necessary to raise the location of the tree hooks.

The optimal distance for hanging a hammock can vary anywhere between 13 to 16 feet from support to support. The ideal distance for most hammocks is 15 feet. Keep in mind that the closer together your anchor points are, the more slack and arch your hammock will have. The ideal distance for any hammock is about two feet more than the whole length of the hammock when measured from ring to ring.

Our Mayan Hammock is the most versatile type of hammock for hanging in a wide variety of spaces and situations. Because you lay across the grain, or bias, of the hammock you can hang your hammock in the extreme vertical of a small space or add additional rope to stretch across wide spaces (see picture to right). In fact, it's generally easier to find a place to hang a hammock than it is to find a flat spot to set up a ground tent.

If you are not using a hammock stand or trees to hang your hammock, supports can be buried into the ground from which the hammock can be hung. These supports can be metal or wooden poles. The poles must be buried in the ground to a depth of 1.5 to 2 feet . Additionally, the support poles must be cemented following the package instructions for the cement mixture.

For the M & MW Series units the recommended operating height from the ground is the lowest possible height up to a maximum of five inches (12.7 cm). This is typically 3" to 5" (7.5 to 12.7 cm). Measure the highest known obstruction that will be driven over in the operations area, and use that as a starting point. Raise or lower until optimum performance height is reached.

Hammock chairs or swings should be installed just far enough to keep it from hitting any walls or objects when swinging. We recommend at least 3 feet from all sides.

It depends on user preference. Proponents of low hang points say it's more like a free flight (unpowered) harness, and this is only somewhat true--having to balance 45+ pounds of motor/fuel will never allow it to be very much like free-flight. Some say that low hang points allow more weight shift control, and this may be true, but weightshift ability is more a matter of the relative position of the hang points and the machine/pilot's center of gravity (CG).

When you put your hammock on a stand it should initially be stretched very tightly, by hooking the rings of the hammock directly onto the s-hooks at either end of the stand. Essentially, it will be parallel to the ground. You may even need a helper to get it on the first time. The rope is new and fresh, but as you use your hammock more and more, it will develop more of a natural belly.

Hanging your set at the right height makes all the difference for comfortable viewing. In general, there are two schools of thought: If you will be watching the TV while sitting on the couch, then the center of the TV should be at eye level when sitting up straight on the couch. However, this could make the TV seem low when standing next to it.

Consider your heavy bag as your opponent. With that in mind, the bag should be high enough to deliver a blow to the "head", so the top of the bag should be about level with the top of your head. If you have a very short bag, you may need to adjust this height somewhat. Unfortunately, this is normal. The combination of your punches and gravity are causing the contents of the bag to settle to the bottom. The best and maybe only option you have, is to purchase an outer cover for your bag.

A chandelier that is hung in a foyer should have the bottom at least 8 feet above the floor. If the ceiling is very high the chandelier may be hung higher than 8 feet. If there is a window above the door thru which the chandelier will be seen from the outside, the chandelier should be hung centered in relation to the window.

This depends a lot on the conditions in which it is flown, but flights in excess of 300 miles in length and altitudes of well over 20,000 ft. MSL have been recorded. More typically, pilots in the summer frequently achieve altitudes of 5,000 to 10,000 ft AGL and fly for over 100 miles.

Feeder placement depends on the birds you hope to attract to your feeding station. As much as possible, it should resemble the way birds feed in the wild, so keep colors neutral, put some feeders almost at ground level and others as much as six feet high. Another consideration is traffic from squirrels and other four-footed visitors.

Most people hang pictures too high. The often-repeated rule of thumb is that the horizontal centerline of a picture should be at eye level. This is not particularly helpful advice since people vary in height, but an average-size person should be able to look comfortably at a picture without having to either bend down or look up.

The height restriction in the Hilton Center and Pavilion is 20'. Hanging signs are not permitted in the Hilton Ballroom.
