In the mid 1950's, the Mountain View Youth Group asked Menno Beachy to teach them basic rudiments in music and shaped notes. We called it singing school. In 1960 churches began calling Menno and asking the youth group to sing for them. It seemed the Lord was pushing us over a precipice, because we had no intentions of becoming a singing group for the public. It became a ministry ordained of God without the help of man. In 1969 the MEN'S CHORUS produced their first and only recording.

The Mountain Anthems Mixed Chorus is an A Cappella gospel choir of mixed voices. The motto of the Chorus is "Sing Unto the Lord." We travel and sing because God has given us the ministry of strengthening and encouraging churches as we praise His name. It is our joy and privilege to sing in His service.

The Mt. Anthems hail from the Allegheny Mountains of Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and Garrett County, Maryland. The Mason-Dixon line between Maryland and Pennsylvania passes about 5 miles south of our home base. This peaceful rural community lies at an altitude of roughly 3000 feet with beautiful scenery just about everywhere you turn. The Mt. Anthems chorus is a ministry of Mountain View Mennonite Church, Salisbury, Pennsylvania.

The Mt. Anthems have been singing in other churches, etc. since the early 1960's. Since 1974 we've been singing every other weekend from February to November.

The Mt. Anthems give concerts every other weekend from February till November. Over the winter, we take a break. To see this year's schedule, visit the tour page. Once every two or three years, we will take longer tours of approximately ten days duration. We are constantly booked about 1 1/2 years in advance. During the winter months we disperse for a rest from travel and rehearsal. We give about 65 concerts a year and have ministered in 25 states, Canada, and Washington DC.

We make no charge for our concerts, but a freewill offering is accepted if you wish to give one. We do ask that you provide a meal for the Chorus. On weekend and extended trips, we request that lodging be provided as well. We'd love to. We try to serve every church that asks us to come, but on a practical level it is not always possible.

The first countries to adopt national anthems were the European monarchies, in the late 18th century. (Probably the earliest of those was Great Britian.) It was probably started as a means of praise to the ruler. The tradition quickly spread across Europe as other countries saw the advantages of such a song. Other countries with republican types of government (such as France) developed anthems from songs that were de facto anthems, songs used as rallying cries of the people.

I lost about 10 pounds by just doing those two things! I then started to pay more attention to the foods I ate. I started keeping a food journal to track what I ate and my daily weight. Soon I had lost another 10 pounds! After a few more months I started walking - about 15 minutes on my lunch break(when the weather was nice). I just walked at my normal pace. When the weather started to turn cold again, Aaron suggested we get a stationary bike. I could watch T.V.

Occasionally members will join from other local churches, but the overwhelming majority of our members comes from this church. Parents, other family members, and the entire Mountain View church make many sacrifices to permit us to travel as frequently as we do. The church has approximately 200 members; we leave a large hole in the church when we travel.

about the age of 10 (1982), I developed an interest in all things relating to the nations of the world: maps, flags, national capitals, national anthems, national data, etc. Around 1990, when the Soviet Union was disintegrating and new nations were coming on to the world scene, my dad got me a software program ("PC Globe") that had a lot of the national data I was interested in on there, including crude sound files of all the national anthems.

On October 29, 1792, Lt. William Broughton, under the command of George Vancouver, identified and named the peak after Lord Samuel Hood a respected admiral of the British Royal Navy.

I started playing guitar at the age of fourteen. My parents were kind enough to buy me an Ibanez Saber and whenever I had extra money I'd buy a cheap pawn shop guitar to work on. I'd either fix it or destroy it... maybe a little bit of both. By twenty-one I was very comfortable working on different kinds of guitars and my friends were always asking me to work on theirs. By the year 2000 I was working as a salesman in a retail music store.

The seeds of Crones Counsel began with some creative ideas from Ann Kreilkamp, founder of Crone Chronicles, a Journal of Conscious Aging magazine (now an ezine) and Shauna Adix, a retired Director of the Women’s Center at the University of Utah after 20 years. Crone Chronicles began as a small photocopied newsletter (1989) and attracted women who were enthusiastic about gathering old women together for a few days.

In just 17 years, what started as a better than average fireworks display has become the pinnacle of pyrotechnics. Thunder is the nation's largest annual fireworks event. It is also one of the top five air shows in the country. Fireworks have been a part of celebrating the Kentucky Derby Festival since the 1960's. Various displays occurred on different nights of the week and locations such as Oxmoor Center in East Jefferson County, including sites along the Ohio River.

People Inc. was not always as diverse as it is today. Formed in 1970 by a small group of concerned, committed parents and citizens who wanted a better life for their loved ones with developmental disabilities, People Inc.'s primary focus was on residential, vocational, case management, and day treatment services for adults with developmental disabilities. Over the years, People Inc. has broadened its range of services to include health care, senior services, and community outreach.

Furry Friends Pet Assisted Therapy Services began in 1983 by Judy Kell, whose nine year-old daughter came down with a rare and aggressive form of cancer that eventually took her life. Judy noticed that one of the very few things that lifted her daughter's spirits was the interaction with her cat. Judy, a veterinary technician by profession, consulted with Dr. John Quick, a veterinarian in Morgan Hill and together with Dr.

Denny's Woods actually began as a construction company. I was doing stairways, and decks, and things like that, and a lot of "finish" (detail) carpentry. A lot of my customers started asking for carved beams, and stair posts and things like that. I also got a lot of requests for free standing carved decorations for decks, too.

I had a copy of the "Funky Worm" 45 laying around the house I would always listen to. When N.W.A.'s "Gangsta Gangsta" came out I really realized how digging up forgotten songs got Dre so much props.

My first radio was a portable, multi-band radio. In addition to the traditional bands, the radio tuned 30-50 MHz ("VHS-lo"[w]) and 136-174 MHz ("VHS-hi"[gh]). I purchased the radio for just under $20 in 1974 from the "Zodys" store (no longer in business) at the corner of Sunset and Western in Hollywood. I mostly listened to LA County Fire and LAPD, both on VHF-hi. I did need help finding more local fire calls; in short, I needed help listening to LA City Fire.

Our Worship Choir sings once per month in assemblies as a regular part of the worship team, and less frequently we will sing special music for holidays and to highlight teachings. You have the option of being in the Worship Choir (the first week of the month only) and/or the performing or Celebration Choir (singing specials and anthems). Eruptive activity has been noted in Mt. Wrangell in 1784, 1884-5, and 1900. On clear, cold, and calm days, steam plumes are often visible.

The CCC was inaugurated in May 2004 under the leadership of CWU President Jerilyn McIntyre and former Ellensburg City Mayor Ed Barry, to reduce high-risk and underage drinking at the university, in Ellensburg, and throughout Kittitas County. President McIntyre, a member of the U.S. Department of Education's Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Presidents Leadership Group, had made a commitment to make reducing alcohol abuse a priority on her campus.

What is Give a Dog a Bone (GADAB)? GADAB is a nonprofit program that provides environmental enrichment for dogs in forced long-term shelter care at the San Francisco Department of Animal Care and Control, an open admissions shelter. Give a Dog a Bone is dedicated to improving the quality of life for dogs in extended confinement through physical, behavioral, mental, and emotional stimulation.
