Students who qualify may apply for on-campus federal work study positions, but there is quite a bit of competition for these slots. Because Duquesne is located in the heart of Pittsburgh, there is a wide range of part-time, off-campus employment opportunities available. Most of our students are employed full-time while in the program, because all of our classes are offered in the evening. They are employed with professional accounting firms and are completing their twenty-four-month mandatory training period. These training periods normally lead to permanent positions upon successful completion of the Uniform Final Examination. Professional accounting firms will recruit on campus twice a year.

Due to the nature of the Industry, there will always be a strong demand for skilled, well-presented and confident therapists. The beauty business boasts a record of placing 95% of trainees in employment or self-employment.

Employment opportunities vary, with some regions of the UK offering more employment possibilities for qualified Art Therapists than others. Some Art Therapists will find employment in settings where their Art Therapy knowledge combines with the requirements of the job. In the residence halls, students are employed as front desk receptionists, managers of hall offices, Mug Shots coffeehouse workers and resident assistants. Applicants for either the part-time and full-time MSW programs must have a bachelor's degree and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to be regularly admitted. On occasion, an applicant may be conditionally admitted if this grade-point requirement is almost but not quite met. A conditional admission requires the student to demonstrate academic ability by maintaining a 3.0 GPA in core courses for the first twelve semester hours of enrollment.

Yes. Each year the biology department hires 20-25 student assistants who work from 4 to 8 hours per week. Some are Work/Study students (their work is part of their financial aid package). A.The department's general policy is to offer all graduate students the opportunity to teach at least one course of their own before graduation. Students are eligible for instructorships once they have passed their written and oral preliminary exams. Most students teach more than one class before they leave the program. In addition, the department requires each student to take the Teaching Political Science sequence of the Political Science as a Profession class.
