A PS3, or Playstation 3 is a next generation gaming console that is being released by Sony. Before the PS3, there was the PS2 and the original Playstation. Both were very popular, and had more of a market share than Sega, Nintendo, and now Microsoft with their consoles.

If you have PS3 system version 1.6 or later, you will see a Folding@Home icon in the Network column of the XMB (PS3 menu). Just click on the icon and that's it. If you don't have 1.6 or later, please perform a system upgrade.

The PS3 client will also support some advanced visualization features. While the Cell microprocessor does most of the calculation processing of the simulation, the graphic chip of the PLAYSTATION 3 system (the RSX) displays the actual folding process in real-time using new technologies such as HDR and ISO surface rendering. Technically speaking, yes, though Sony has said that it doesn't plan on region-locking games. It's possible that third-party developers may choose to do so, in which case they'll flag the disc as so in software, but it sounds like most games will be region-free. This is a tough one. The PS3 is indeed expensive, at $499 and $599, but it's very well made and comes with many extra media functions to play around with (DVD/Blu-ray playing, music, photo viewer and Wi-Fi). A similarly-equipped PC would probably be a bit cheap, but it would be far larger and wouldn't have the gaming prowess. In that sense, yes, the PS3 is an excellent deal, particularly when you factor in the Blu-ray movies, free online play, and gaming/media capabilities.

The motion-sensing controller strikes me the most, but obviously, you've also got the Blu-ray, the more enhanced media functionality, built-in WiFi, and so on. I also like how you don't need a Memory Card -- you can use a standard digital camera SD card, and probably even a standard USB memory stick to transfer files. Very slick, and a small detail you can't do on the Xbox 360.

We've used several standard USB headsets and they worked just fine. I tried a Logitech model and it was perfect; the PS3 recognized it just fine. Any typical PC headset should work.

I'd say Resistance, Fight Night Round 3, and Madden look (and play) the best. Sad thing is, we're a little short on games just now...I should have more time with new games this week, so I'll keep you posted. No, it's not active yet.

Sony is using a front loader…no trays…you just stick the disc in and your PS3 sucks it up.

The 60 gb model has built in WiFi. So you will receive internet signals instantly. Supports 802.11b and g. Data rates 11mbps and 54mbps. Will it support Super G? It doesn’t look like that is happening at launch. Remember, you will still need to have an internet connection thru a wireless router and/or modem.

The PS3 will support the HD resolutions of 1280 x 720, 1920 x 1080i, and 1920 x 1080p. There are a few HDTVs starting to come out with 1080p HDMI inputs, from the likes of Sony and HP. The PS3 will also support SD (standard definition).

Even though the PS3 has an nvidia graphics chip of the G70 family, there is no chance of support at the moment because sony prevents us from accessing the chip directly.

Currently the PS3 has a 20GB model and a 60GB Model. I would highly recommend you get the 60 GB model since it comes with built in WiFi and the Hard Drive space of course. Sony has recently discontinued the 20GB so you basically have one choice. There is a rumor that an 80GB might be on the way.
