Lycra (Spandex) is softer and has greater stretch capability allowing for more flexibility. Its fabric has a rubberized elastic material. This is especially important for Synchro Swimmers. However due to the rubberized elastic material Lycra tends to breakdown earlier than Polyester because the chlorine attacks the rubberized elastic material in the fabric.

Latex caps are very inexpensive. They do not last very long. They can pull on hair or be uncomfortable. Silicone caps are more expensive but last longer and may be more comfortable. Both latex and silicone caps will keep the hair relatively dry. They may help keep goggle straps from slipping. Lycra caps are the most comfortable and do not pull hair. They come in many colors and patterns. Lycra caps are not waterproof and only serve to keep longer hair from swishing around.

Polyester is a very strong film with high internal strength and good folding qualities; it will withstand heavy use and is very hard to puncture or tear. Polyester is available in 1.5-mil, 2-mil, or 4-mil thickness. Polypropylene is a softer, more flexible and conformable material, and is offered in a 2.5-mil thickness. Polypropylene is more economical than polyester, but does not offer the same strength or durability.

The difference is primarily the thermal and chemical compatibility. Traditionally the polyester is used on steel ring bags and polypropylene on the plastic flange. Polyester fabric is a tightly woven fabric with excellent resistance to water/coolant with moderate heat resistance when compared to other reinforcing fabrics. Polyester reinforced hoses are typically used on intercooler pipes, intakes, TB connections and even custom cooling system applications. The temperature limitations of polyester reinforced hoses ranges from -65°F to +350°F.

Polyester rope is bright white where as cotton rope is more of a beige color. Polyester rope will last longer outdoors then cotton rope. Some people say that cotton rope is more comfortable then polyester. This is largely a matter of opinion.

Polyester is a man-made fabric which results in a garment which is extremely light and comfortable to wear, with excellent quick drying and chlorine resistant properties. Polycotton is a more natural fabric and feels more like the t-shirts that you put on your children. This is ideal for infant or sensitive skins, but takes a little longer to dry than polyester. Both fabrics achieve the same SPF of 50+ and fit in the same way.

a) Acetate: Acetate provides excellent drapability and softness, and is moth resistant. Acetate is dry-clean only. b) Polyester: Polyester is strong; moth resistant; resistant to stretching, most chemicals, and abrasion; is crisp and resilient when wet or dry; retains heat-set pleats and creases; is more wrinkle resistant than Acetate; and is easily washed in ordinary washers and dryers.

Lycra is a brand name but all elastomeric fabrics are commonly called lycra these days, and obviously not all elastomeric fabric is the same. Better raw materials, weave design and construction make a difference. Some of this quality variance can be seen and felt, but Skins™' fabric attributes, tested at the CSIRO, are undetectable to the untrained eye or hand.

Polyester films, like USI OptiClear, are clearer and a higher quality than lower grade films, which tend to be foggy. Premium films also endure extreme environments and severe stress conditions more favorably. Films with higher polyester content are more rigid and feel thicker than films with more adhesive content. Polypropylene film is softer than polyester, but still has excellent clarity.

They are not recommended for use in high humidity or exposure to water, as volume swell and reduction of properties may result. Because of inherent advantages in low heat build-up, polyether-based urethanes are recommended for applications undergoing medium to high stress.

Cotton rope hammocks are made from natural fibers and their soft cotton like feel results in a very comfortable hammock bed. These hammocks are typically beige in color (the natural color of cotton). Cotton rope hammocks are perfect for people who can take their hammock out of the elements on a normal basis to store. Hammocks made from polyester rope are designed to be weather resistant. As a result, these hammocks can have a very long lifespan.

Polyester material is flame-retardant and will not support a flame if it is exposed to fire and will not melt on the wearer. Polyester no-see-um mesh is fine enough to keep even no-see-ums and ticks from biting the wearer but still allows air to move through the mesh so that it remains cool. Polyester no-see-um mesh is rugged and durable and won't easily snag, rip or tear while in the back woods.

Yes. The material has no negative effect on health. It causes no itching or skin irritation. Heat-welded polyester does not release fibres into the air (which is a cause of medical concern). This is one reason why many hospitals and buildings with air-conditioning systems choose NOVAtherm and NOVAhush.

All fabrics of Instride riding apparel contain at least 10% Lycra, with four way stretch. This insures a comfortable fit without binding, yet maintains its shape wearing after wearing. All fabrics, & the solid color ultrasuede®, may be machine washed in cool water, and placed in a cool dryer. For BEST results, turn the clothing item "inside out" before washing and drying. Wash like colors together and NEVER use bleach directly on the fabric.

All the materials I use are certified for sportswear, so they breathe good! Except PVC-coated fabric that I don't recommend for activewear. And there's no report of allergy that I know of.

Laminating resin is greenish blue in color and is the basic first coat of resin; it is used to adhere the cloth to the blank (this resin will only dry tacky and not sandable!) Sanding or hot coat resin or filler coat is almost the same thing; it is lam resin with surfacing agent (styrene monomer and paraffin wax) mixed in. Paint it on the laminated surfboard to fill the fiberglass weave and make the board sandable. Gloss/finish Resin is pink in color and is the final coat of resin.

Lycra is used in some garments, mostly exercise and activewear, to allow the garment to stretch and move with you. We use no more than 10% in any garment. Lycra increases the life of a garment, making it more sustainable. It adds stretch and versatility and contributes to a wider array of fashion fabrications. We add very small amounts to some of our garments in order to reach more people with the importance of organic cotton (and other organic textiles).

I prefer handwash or automatic washer with "delicate" program: warm water (near 40c) and some neutral detergent with NO chlorine or bleach, like ones used for kids' clothes. Please buy a washing bag (used widely to wash legwear) and always close all the zippers on the suit, if you're using a washing machine. Never use dryers or fans - let the suit dry on the air, and preferrably in horisontal position... That's all!

Simply Spray will work on silk, but it will not have the same affect as it will on cotton. Simply Spray will run on silk or polyester, leaving a more tie-dyed look. So, yes, it will work, but won't be as controllable as it is on 100% cotton.

Use no more than a ratio of 10% by volume of the Styrene Monomer for thinning, as higher concentrations will degrade the resin's properties. Do NOT use with epoxy.

Polyester pack cloth is a general term given to a variety of fabrics that fall within a given range of textures and weights. Generally, most pack cloths use between 400D and 600D yarns (see question "What is 1000D Cordura?") and are made from either nylon or polyester fibers. Pack cloth is almost always coated on the back with a water resistant coating that provides water resistance as well as structure to the fabric.
