This message can be produced by any application linked to the WFDB library that attempts to read annotation files. In order to do so successfully, these applications need to find the annotation file for the annotator and input record you specify. The message indicates that the annotation file was not found in any of the expected places, or that it was unreadable. There are several common reasons why this can happen: The record name supplied to the application is not correct.

Records are identified by record names, which contain letters, digits, and underscores. For example, the MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database has record names consisting of three-digit numbers beginning with '1' or '2', and the European ST-T Database has record names that are four-digit numbers prefixed by 'e'.

It means that the file under consideration extends beyond the partition it resides on. That means either severe data lost or that you use wrong Recognized partition to recover the file. Whenever the XFree86 Xserver crashes, dies, ceases to exist or is inaccessible for any reason, you will see this error message. It is a message from an X-client (=any program running on your XFree86 Xserver, for example the window manager) telling you that it tried to connect to your Xserver, but failed to do something for "some" reason. Quoting only this message in a bug report is therefore utterly useless. Look in the server output for the real reason why the server died.

EmStar nodes assume that there is a file /etc/id that tells them their ID. If this file is missing, you will see this error. When you run in simulation mode, EmSim or EmCee will configure the ID for each simulated node, so this error will not occur.

This error message means that a Cyclic Redudancy Check failed during some operation, most likely while gzip'ing or un-gzip'ing a file.
