For most documents you seldom have to exceed 150 dpi. For images that will be used with an OCR program, try to scan at 300 dpi for best character recognition. For line art such as cartoons of simple drawings, settings of 72 dpi may prove to be acceptable. The higher the dpi, the bigger the file. Note: cropping or deleting unwanted or unused areas around the actual image or information you want to save will also reduce the file size, even if the space is blank.)

We provide repeat image files in EPS (vector) and tiff (bitmap) formats. The tiff files are full size at 300-350 dpi, and the EPS files can be sized to any size and resolution with no loss of detail. The combination of focal spot size and magnification determines the theoretical maximum resolution in the x-ray image. You can upload any .jpg image not larger than 1MB, however any image with a height or width greater than 1024 will be reduced such that its longest side is 1024.
