This is because our actual body clock (consisting of a cluster of cells that lie deep within the brain) receives information from the eyes about light (daytime) and dark (night). However, the timing and length of exposure to bright light is critical as to whether your body clock will be delayed (to a later time) or advanced (to an earlier time).
