It must be fixed with special glue that conducts electricity, and you don't have that in the junk drawer-trust me, I looked. Check with an auto parts store or glass shop. If you happen to whack the rear view mirror with your hand and pop it off of the glass, make sure you use rear-view mirror adhesive to fix it.

The Miata has about a 10x29in rear window so at first blush the 2609 is to tall and does not meet the 40in minimum. Many owners have cut the heating element paper and side bus bars to allow closer spacing. The shorter length will make the grid run a little hotter.
