Perhaps this is because a boat name is one of the few periods where everyone absolutely has to come up with something sounding creative and original. Basically, unless you're a maintenance maven, it's by far the best choice. What about wood? Wood boats are far cheaper than fiberglass ones, and they might seem like an ideal way to get into cruising.
