Server requirements depend on many factors, such as number of users, frequency of commits and other server related operations, repository size, and the load generated by custom repository hooks. When using Apache, it is likely that Apache itself will be the biggest factor in memory usage. See this discussion on the mailing list for some concrete answers.

You need a TTL<->RS232 level adapter using for example the MAX232 chip. Search the Web for the phone pinout, circuit diagrams, and building instructions.

We provide binary packages for Linux, Windows 2000/2003/XP (fully self-contained installer), and OSX (dmg package). We know that Inkscape is successfully used on FreeBSD and other Unix-like operating systems. Note that Windows 98/ME is no longer supported.

Intellipost over the years been designed to run on most hardware platforms including but not limited to DG Aviion, HP9000/300, HP9000/700, IBM RS6000, Intergraph, NEC (RISC), SGI, SUN Motorola, SUN SPARC, DEC ULTRIX, SUN SOLARIS, DEC ALPHA/OSF and PC.

We recommend at least a Pentium processor with 64-512 Meg of RAM running Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/ XP/VISTA. The hard drive required depends on the size of your collection. Plan on 2.5 Megs per 1,000 items and approximately 1 Meg per 250 patrons. A CDROM drive is needed for program installation. The printer must be a single-sheet type such as an ink jet or laser printer. If you plan to use bar code scanning in PC Card Catalog, you will need a scanner that emulates keyboard entry.

Quizilla run on a fairly large army of servers. Originally, it started out using one small underpowered computer in the founders basement, but has now grown into using a vast array of technology and hardware. Currently Quizilla runs on over 40 servers (as of September 1, 2005).

Globulation's source code is made to be cross-platform and work on Microsoft Windows [95, 98, ME, NT, 2K, XP], GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris and other Unixes. The main system used by most of the developers is GNU/Linux, thus new builds will always be released for this platform first. Then there needs to be contributors that successfully compiled it for the other platforms.

Any system capable of running Gnome 2, KDE 3.2, Windows 2000, Mac OS X and later versions should be able to run GIMP. GIMP's biggest appetite is for memory and how much you will need will depend on the how many images you are working with, their resolution, size, the number of layers you use and so on. As a general rule, more is better, but 128MB should be enough to be getting started with.

Any computer that can successfully run JediKnight should be capable of running the core release and all subsequent releases. It has been developed on a Pentium 233 MMX with 32 mb Ram. It was seen running in 3D accelerated mode on an ATI 3D Rage II and Monster 3D II 8 mb video card setup with no problems.

NS is probably the most user-unfriendly software in this world, so please don't get mad if the following steps don't work quite well. I'm also assuming that you have access to the Linux clusters. Any regular PC running Windows (equipped with Cygwin) or Linux. Our gateway runs on a computer with a fixed IP address, but it may be possible to make it work with dynamic DNS as well, although we have never tried that.

While CrimeStar's absolute minimum specifications are very modest, we recommend that your computer be at least a Pentium 650Mhz. (or equivalent) and have at least 128 Megabytes of RAM and 400 Megabytes of available disk space. Because CrimeStar is a database application you will likely require several hundred megabytes of free disk space to store your data.

Debian GNU/Linux includes complete source-code for all of the included programs, so it should work on all systems which are supported by the Linux kernel; see the Linux FAQ for details. The current Debian GNU/Linux release, 3.

All new scenery editing tools will run on Macintosh and Windows. Betas may come out first for one platform and then the other. Because the tools will be open source, a port to Linux is possible but not planned at this time.

JMF 2.1.1 will run on Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/2000, Solaris/SPARC, and any Java Compatible platforms. The pure Java version of JMF 2.1.1 will now run on Apple's MRJ 2.1.4; however there are a/v syncronization problems since Apple added a 6 second audio buffer to that MRJ.

We have aimed for platform independence, which means that it supports any platform we have access that fulfills our not-so-modest hardware requirements, and supporting more platforms is quite easy. However, our main hardware platform is PC-compatibles where we develop on both Windows(98/NT/2000/XP) and Linux.

QEI requires a PC running Windows NT4 SP3, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Networked installations require a TCP/IP network.

SIMPOL and various components have already been run on Win32, Linux for Intel, Mac OS-X on PowerPC, and SymbianOS 6 on the Nokia Communicator. Currently the primary work is on Win32 and Linux. Before release there will also be work on a native Win64 release. We will eventually provide support for Windows CE (PocketPC, Windows Mobile) and embedded Linux with GTK on the Palm devices. Other targets are not currently scheduled, though they are regularly under consideration.

UniPad runs on Microsoft Windows. It has been tested with Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP. No service packs or additional components are required.
