Grasses are plants that require a certain amount of light to survive. Plants use light to process and create food. Some grasses do better than others in shady areas because of the way they grow. Deep shade grasses grow flatter and can take in more light than a plant that grows straight up and down. Even shady grasses require sunlight for at least 1/3 of the day. If this requirement is not met the plant will begin to suffer and die back.

Application amount varies with each sod. A 16-4-8 should be used as a summer fertilizer and 5-10-15 with spring and fall fertilization. Centipede does not like much fertilizer, so even just one application a year is sufficient. St. Augustine requires more care; two applications a year are needed. El Toro is a lower maintenance zoysia than all other zoysia's, so you may fertilize it once or twice a year. Emerald needs two applications.

The sprouting of wheat into wheat grass destroys the lectin that is problematic in wheat. Sprouting also beneficially changes the nutrient profile of this grain, resulting in a nutrient-dense, enzyme-rich superfood. Because of these factors, I consider wheat grass to be an excellent addition to the diet for all blood types. As far as an amount, use your own judgement.

The greens are bentgrass. Tees, fairways, roughs, and green surrounds are hybrid bermudagrass. Starting around October 1, each year, the entire course (except for the bentgrass greens) is overseeded with rye grass. The type of overseed is a medium overseed as recommended by the University of Arizona.

No. They are to be left for Winter showing. In Spring, wait until they are growing and then you can go in and pull out any dead foliage not growing. If you absolutely have to trim them, only take a third of the foliage off. Remember, grasses have hollow shafts. If you cut them too short, you could get root rot with heavy Spring rains.

The temperature is more important than the elevation. As long as your average daytime temperatures are in the 80's during the summer and night time temperatures stay above the upper 40's to lower 50's Legacy should perform for you. If you are planting at an elevation above 5000 feet, Legacy is usually the best choice.

Yes you can, The improved varieties can improve common bermuda and the new Princess 77 variety can also improve many hybrid / vegetative types. Planting around 1/2 to 1 lbs per 1000 sq. ft can often lead to improvements in your stand of grass. Make sure good seed / soil contact is obtained in any overseeding program.

Answer: Yes, grass seed application rates do vary according to soil type and aspect. On average, seeding of a general landscaping mixture containing Perennial ryegrass is around 25g per metre square. For soils which are heavier in texture such as clay loams, or soils with extreams of acidity or alkalinity, then seeding rates should be increased to between 35-50g per metre square. This helps to compensate for seedling mortality.

It is similar, but not the same. Be careful, when phoning round for quotes, be sure to get a price, which is for a square metre. Some non-TGA growers charge a square metre price for a square yard or a half square yard (a square yard is 20% smaller than a square metre).
