Globulation's source code is made to be cross-platform and work on Microsoft Windows [95, 98, ME, NT, 2K, XP], GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris and other Unixes. The main system used by most of the developers is GNU/Linux, thus new builds will always be released for this platform first. Then there needs to be contributors that successfully compiled it for the other platforms.

We provide binary packages for Linux, Windows 2000/2003/XP (fully self-contained installer), and OSX (dmg package). We know that Inkscape is successfully used on FreeBSD and other Unix-like operating systems. Note that Windows 98/ME is no longer supported.

Most proprietary games impose a limit of 6 or 8 players in a game; Well, this game has a higher limit of 32. But 16 players can be configured right now in the offline game. This limit can easily be modified if needed in the future.

Globulation 2 is a Real-Time Strategy [RTS] game, which minimizes micro-management by automatically assigning tasks to units. The player chooses the number of units he wants to assign to various tasks, and the units will do their best to satisfy the requests. This allows the user to manage more units and focus on strategies rather than individual units' jobs.

All new scenery editing tools will run on Macintosh and Windows. Betas may come out first for one platform and then the other. Because the tools will be open source, a port to Linux is possible but not planned at this time.

JMF 2.1.1 will run on Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/2000, Solaris/SPARC, and any Java Compatible platforms. The pure Java version of JMF 2.1.1 will now run on Apple's MRJ 2.1.4; however there are a/v syncronization problems since Apple added a 6 second audio buffer to that MRJ.

We have aimed for platform independence, which means that it supports any platform we have access that fulfills our not-so-modest hardware requirements, and supporting more platforms is quite easy. However, our main hardware platform is PC-compatibles where we develop on both Windows(98/NT/2000/XP) and Linux.

QEI requires a PC running Windows NT4 SP3, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Networked installations require a TCP/IP network.

SIMPOL and various components have already been run on Win32, Linux for Intel, Mac OS-X on PowerPC, and SymbianOS 6 on the Nokia Communicator. Currently the primary work is on Win32 and Linux. Before release there will also be work on a native Win64 release. We will eventually provide support for Windows CE (PocketPC, Windows Mobile) and embedded Linux with GTK on the Palm devices. UniPad runs on Microsoft Windows. It has been tested with Windows NT 4.0, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME and Windows XP. No service packs or additional components are required.

The Genesis system is fully platform independent. The system is tested and certified on all major platforms. In the unlikely event that you are tied to an untested platform, we can perform an exhaustive set of platform and system test as a pre-sales service.

Wings3D currently run on windows (98 and higher), Macintosh OSX, Linux, Unix or any computer and operating system that can run Erlang/OTP and that has OpenGL/Mesa drivers. If you have problems running Wings3D then chances are you'll be able to find someone able to help you at some of the forums.

SekChek will run on all current versions of AS/400, Windows NT/2000/2003 and UNIX operating systems that are Bourne Shell compatible, such as AIX, HP-UX, Linux, SCO and Solaris systems. It will also run on versions 4, 5 & 6 of Novell/NetWare systems. However, because SekChek for Windows is 32-bit software, it will not run on 64-bit hardware, such as Alpha & Mips. With the exception of shell scripts and batch files that are used to start the various components, SLAMD is written entirely in Java. As such, it should be possible to use on any system that is able to run Java 1.4 or higher (including Java 5.0). Note, however, that there may be some features that do not work on all platforms. The TopLeaf workstation is a Windows desktop application (Win 98, ME, XP, 200x). The TopLeaf Server license is available on Linux and Windows (and other UNIX platforms through special arrangement). I does work on my relatively common IA-32 Debian box with GCC 3.x, if that's any consolation. I've tested the library mostly in Debian Linux (IA-32, Alpha). Version 0.0.17 seems to work in FreeBSD (IA-32), Solaris (SPARC), MacOS X (PPC), and Windows (IA-32; using MinGW32, at least) as well. All of these tests have been with GCC 3.x; 3.x because GCC 2.95.
