Relax. Like most mechanical devices, a new watch has a break-in period that lasts for about a month or so. During this time, your watch is distributing the oil around, and is breaking in its gears. There are many factors that affect PC performance including both software and hardware. Check how much free space is remaining on your C: drive by right-clicking on the C: drive icon and looking at Properties. Defragging the hard drive may improve performance somewhat. If you are running resource intensive applications and your system has only a moderate amount of memory, performance will also be slow.

Sophos may be set to search archives, which will both slow down your Mac and cause multiple error messages from Sophos. It's easy to fix.
