ZigZag Boutique's mission is to support women in their roles as mothers and entrepreneurs by serving as a channel through which they can either purchase affordable high-quality clothing and accessories for themselves and their children, or distribute their innovations. There are many moms out there who create unique and practical baby/kid/family-friendly products that just don't get noticed. We will seek these products out and bring them to you.

MOMS Club® (Moms Offering Moms Support) is an international organization whose members are at-home moms or working part-time. Members support each other by planning activities, sharing advice, and introducing their children to others in their area. Learn more about the international MOMS Club at www.momsclub.org. It costs $30 per year annual dues to join the Morris Plains chapter of MOMS Club®.

Aunty Henrietta's Hemorrhoid Helper has been used by many mothers during and after pregnancy to help relieve the pain and irritations associated with hemorrhoids. As always, you should consult with your physician first before starting any new treatment.

Guests at Maggie's Place are invited into the community at any point during their pregnancy. After the baby is born, the mom and baby can reside in the house until the baby is six months old. If the mom qualifies for the apartment program (see question #10), they can stay until the baby is nine months old.

The interviews give both the pregnant woman and Maggie's Place an opportunity to get to know each other and determine if Maggie's Place is the community resource best-suited to assist the woman with her unique needs.

Throughout their stay at Maggie's Place, the mother is asked to set and achieve her goals (i.e. furthering her education, finding a job, saving money.) Therefore, when it is time for a woman to leave Maggie's Place, she has prepared herself to move on to independent living. (See question #8.) After moving on, the moms often return to visit or volunteer. Staff members receive frequent invitations to birthday parties as the babies grow up!

No, our classes are unique to any others you will find. A prenatal Moms In Motion class will have only pregnant women and a mom and baby class will consist of only moms and their babies. We pride ourselves in offering the safest work-out and most comfortable environment for you while you are pregnant or adjusting to being a new mom.

All of our club's many positions are staffed entirely by volunteers. We have an Executive Board consisting of six members and several Committee Chairs, and we are ALWAYS looking for volunteers. Each mom is assigned to a small discussion group for the year. A Titus 2 leader facilitates each group, which we try to keep to a maximum number of 11 moms. It is in the ongoing participation in these small groups where we see the strong bonds of friendships and support relationships forged among the moms.

We have recieved wonderful feedback over the years. The two comments about Mom to Mom we hear over and over from our moms are "It has strengthened my walk with the Lord," and "It provides a wonderful opportunity for me to bring my non-churched friends to church." Breastfeeding mothers and infants involved in overnight studies will find that the CNRC has a well-trained staff ready to assist with lactation problems. There are private rooms with electric breast pumps, comfortable rocking chairs and nursing stools. Nursing pillows, NUK Nipples, breast shields, diapers and bottle warmers are also available for nursing moms to use while at the Center. The CNRC also has an extensive library of reading materials and educational videos about breastfeeding.

Definitely not. While we initially launched in Toronto and built up our subscriber base there, we have always had subscribers from across the country. Requests to provide savvy information on different cities led us to develop other city editions. Our new Vancouver and Ottawa editions are up and running and Calgary is next in line to ‘get savvy’. If you like what we’re doing and want us to focus on your city next, please let us know and keep spreading the word there.

Moms and Dads are more than welcome to come to the event. Please keep in mind that this conference is for teen girls and is not a parent/daughter event. We would suggest if the mom or dad want to come that he/she consider bringing a group of their daughter’s friends along.

The Trying Moms (TM) List keeps track of the date of next menstrual period for those TM's who wish to register. Subscribers find the list handy for keeping track of who is where in their cycle. A special section of the listing is reserved for Pretrying Moms -- who must wait until a specific date before trying to become pregnant again. The TM List usually is posted weekly to SPALS. Please note that the TM list is not a separate mailing list.

The Pregnant Moms (PM) List is a register of those SPALS moms who are expecting, arranged in the form of a calendar of due dates. It helps SPALS subscribers identify others who may be at the same stage of pregnancy, for private conversation on common topics or questions. It is not a separate mailing list or discussion group.

Long ago, my little ones would bring me flowers from the field outside our house. I would save them in a special jar, and I still have them now - dusty gray remains of bright yellow yesterdays. Motherhood is one of God's greatest of all blessings."

Times have changed and a divorcing mom should not take child custody as a sure thing. Many fathers have successfully won child custody. You must make a convincing case that you are the best and most fit guardian of the children. Be sure to read all about child custody in our education center. To win child custody, you must make a strong showing in all of the important factors a court uses to decide.

Global warming is likely to have an impact on our children’s future. The Earth has experienced major changes in the past century due to human activity. Warming in the next century is likely to be much greater unless we act now to leave our children a healthy planet.

Yes and maybe. Numerous professional sources including Thomas W. Hale, R.Ph. Ph.D., University of Texas (author of Medication and Mother’s Milk), American College of Nurse-Midwives, and American Academy of Pediatrics agree that moderate and occasional consumption of alcohol is usually compatible with breastfeeding. Important considerations are: The baby’s age - A newborn has an immature liver and will take longer to metabolize any of the alcohol that gets into the mom’s milk.

Most moms make their belly casts anywhere between 34 to 36 weeks of pregnancy but we have had some that have made them as early as 30 weeks of pregnancy and some as late as full-term. It really is a matter of personal preference. Our best advice is not to wait too long because babies have a way of coming early sometimes!

Yes! Birthing alone can be scary and confusing because it can be very difficult to focus on bringing your baby into the world while still trying to communicate with your caregivers. While your doula never makes decisions for you, she can be a great help with explaining what is happening. We believe that every woman should have at least two support people at her birth, and will work with any friend or family member you invite.
