There are a number of ways to make solar panels less visually obtrusive. These include designing the roof to accommodate the panels from the beginning, choosing a dark roof color similar to the panel color, installing the panels nearly flat on the roof, making sure the panels are aligned with the roof pitch, mounting them on the back of the roof and away from the street, mounting them on the garage instead of the house, and mounting them on a pole or ground mount away from the house.

The expected life of a typical solar panel is about fifty years. Today's solar electric systems have 20 to 25 year warranties.

Your boat spends all day in the sun and wind so in theory it is a good idea. However it is a relatively expensive option compared with paying for electricity from the mains. But you will be independent and very green!

The only maintenance solar panels require is cleaning with a damp cloth to remove any dust, insects, leaves, bird droppings or snow that has collected.
