Recognition refers to the formal acknowledgement conveying approval or sanction. The Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) is leading the way in establishing National Standards of Certification for Pilates Instructors by developing an exam to test the minimal knowledge required to be a Pilates Instructor. To sit for the exam an instructor must have a minimum of 200 hours of formal education with a reputable Pilates Teacher Training Program which includes an apprenticeship.
