Among the rarest of the Charming Tails pieces are Mouse on Bell or Bunny on Bell, Mouse on Rubber Duck waterglobe, Mouse on Cheese waterglobe and Chickadees on Ball. Also, Mouse on Dragonfly is very popular and hard to find. Can I Keep Him and Wanna Play are two of the most sought-after of the limited editions pieces (editions of 2,500 pieces) as they were the first limited editions and the smallest editions produced. They're selling for about $450 and $125, respectively.

Dean Griff is the designer of Charming Tails. He does the original drawing and approves the finished piece. Dean Griff worked for Roman before going to Silvestri and Fitz and Floyd. Dean has also designed pieces for Roman, called the "Woodland Winds", as well as a series of 15 designs called "Woodland Wishes". However, only 3 of the 15 Woodland Wishes were ever released.

The line was first issued for Christmas 1992. It was originally called the Woodland Collection and was made up of 12 pieces. These 12 pieces were among the most successful ornaments of that Holiday season. The name Charming Tails was not used until 1994 when it became the official name of the line as we know it. Earlier, Dean Griff used to hand-painted Christmas ornaments for some friends.

In January 1999, Charming Tails textile items were released. They are not made by Fitz and Floyd, but under licensed by the manufacturers, Manual Woodworkers and Weavers. The first release of an afghan, two pillows, and a bell pull were based on the Lazy Days theme. For Christmas 1999, four additional pieces were released, based on "Everybody Sing". These included an afghan, a large pillow, a tapestry bell pull and a small "word" pillow.

The catalog lists almost all the Charming Tails pieces, including the retired pieces. You can receive a catalog by contacting stores that sell it or from Fitz and Floyd for $5.00. The Charming Tails club was originally called the Acorn Society. It was begun at the International Collectible Exposition in Rosemont in 1996. It was created to test collector interest, and obviously it was a big success. The kit they gave to members included:

Overcharming is the ability to charm an NPC which is higher than your level. Your ability to charm is directly related to your Instrument skill. Generally, it is advisable to keep your Instrument skill-level greater than or equal to the level of the NPC you are attempting to keep charmed. Overcharming can be risky. A high Instrument score will help, but you may still experience difficulty with pets that are significantly higher level than you.

Most of us would like to find an old open-crank Ruston or Blackstone, but there are more modern engines such as the Lister X and XO engines which are equally popular with engine hunters. If everything is there, and nothing is broken or bent, then it is relatively easy to get an old engine running. The troubles begin when you have an engine that has bits missing, broken or mangled and you don't have any documentation in the way of parts lists or instruction books to help you out.

The Selection Committee uses multiple factors in selecting candidates. However, a score of 50 or above is desired on the M.A.T. Application deadline is December 31, 2004 and, following a "paper screening" of credentials in early January 2004, finalists will be invited to appear before the Selection Committee after which successful candidates will be notified of acceptance.

We use positive reinforcement techniques to teach dogs what behaviors are appropriate. We reinforce the desirable behaviors (such as sitting politely) with praise and food rewards while we ignore and never reinforce behaviors we don't like (such as jumping up on people). We also use praise and treats to create positive associations with objects and experiences that dogs may otherwise find frightening or uncomfortable. We do not use adverse measures to punish behavior.

In 1998, Fitz and Floyd released a line of "mini" Charming Tails. The theme is the "Squashville County Fair." We have pictures of the Teeny Tiny Tails. They were released at the Rosemont International Collectible Exposition in 1998.

Historically, and I mean a really long time ago, dog tails were docked to protect against injuries during hunting. At the same time, an English law was passed which taxed "non-working" dogs. Rat Terriers are natural hunters, and were (and still are in some cases) commonly used for hunting, thus their tails were historically very commonly docked. The term "NBT" (natural bob-tail) refers to dogs that are born with a bob tail already, and so do not need their tails docked.

When they are very excited they hold their tail up no doubt as part of the body language to demonstrate to other devils that they mean business. When they are very angry they will hold their tail almost straight up. The tail can be held in many positions and the subtleties probably have much meaning in communicating the animals level of arousal or aggression to other devils.

Most marsupials store fat in their tails and a fat tail is usually a sign that an animal is in excellent condition.

It's called tail docking, and there are actually a few reasons it is done. It started back in the days when Cockers did a lot of hunting in the brush, and their tails would get full of burrs and thickets. But there are still plenty of good reasons to dock the tail of a pet Cocker: First, Cockers wag their tail so vigorously that they can actually hurt themselves by either hitting their tail against their own body or by hitting it in to things such as walls or furniture.

A bulldog's tail must never be docked. What you see when they are born is what you get. According to the breed standard, a bulldog may have either a straight or screwed tail. Most breeders seem to prefer the straight tail, since it is generally easier to maintain.

Yes, but barely. There really is a tail under there. Most hedgehogs have only a pointed little nub of tail that spends almost all of its time hidden under the quills. This leaves the poor hedgehog looking for all the world like he doesn't have a tail. My hhog, Ambergris, uses her tail - it isn't a useless appendage. She uses it as a pusher when she is trying to go underneath stuff. Strange and wondrous.

This activity is referred to as caudal luring. This is normally done when the animals are hungry. Almost all of my animals start moving their tail when they see me in hopes of food. It’s believed that in the wild they use this as a way of luring food. Keep in mind it takes around 2-3 days for the animal to begin to digest and realize it doesn’t need to eat. This behavior will continue after feeding for a few days.

The first step is to remove the offending agent if it is a superficial injury. If the injury is very deep, it is sometimes better to leave the object in place as removing the object may result in serious blood loss. Seek immediate medical attention. If the injury is not deep and the offending agent can be removed, the next step is to control bleeding. This can be done by applying pressure to the wound. Cleanse the wound with hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol if available.
