The majority of these tours only run in the winter months as this is when there is more demand and we can make sure we get the minimum numbers to run. In the case of the flights the minimum is typically 8 people but we may run with less. Some of the landing strips for the plane are not negotiable in summer because of the rains - particularly the Huichol trip. San Sebastian will run all throughout the year - either by land or by air.

To travel independently you must be at least 18 years of age. There are no upper age limits on our tours however travelers aged 70 years or older are required to complete a medical questionnaire. Our Family Adventures are open to families with children aged between 6 and 17 years of age. Our standard (non-family) adventures are open to children aged 12 years or older when accompanied by a parent (max. two children per adult).

The longer the adventure the more islands you visit. Please be aware that approximately three days of each tour are spent in Quito and getting to and from the islands. Therefore the shorter itineraries will spend less time sailing around the islands.

Trip specific information on transportation can be found on the trip summary page however in most cases we use public transportation. We've found that how you get there significantly influences the tone of your journey and public transportation allows face-to-face interaction with the local people. For better guide and visitor interaction, pre-booked guided tours in Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve will be limited to maximum of 15 people per guide as of 1 Jan 2007. The charge for the pre-booked guided tour remains at S$50.00. You can book the guided tour from Mondays to Saturdays at either 9am or 3pm with one month's notice. This guided tour is about one hour and covers approximately 1/4 of route one or the mangrove boardwalk.

The frequency of tours changes in line with seasonality and demand. However as a rule of thumb the tours start at 10 and finish around dusk and may run as late as 6.00pm in the summer. The web page retains all the initial tours, but we can expand the number of tours per day to meet expected demand.

We try hard never to cancel a tour once we've accepted your booking (unless forced to do so by topographical problems, civil unrest or 'act of God'!). Between 1986 and 2005 we cancelled only one tour when French fuel protests made it impossible to run. We ran a full scheduled programme following the September 11th 2001 terrorist attacks despite there being, on occasion, as few as two persons on the tour where other tour participants clients were unable to catch cancelled air flights.
