Playaway is more convenient and easier to enjoy than juggling multiple CDs, cassettes or a separate player. Playaway allows the listener to control the speed of the narrator's voice and automatically bookmarks the last place they left off after powering down.

DVD has Dolby Digital AC-3 encoding to enhance audio quality. The listener of DVD will be able to enjoy six discrete, digitally separated channels for lifelike surround sound. One DVD disc movie might come with audio tracks in up to eight different languages or with 32 different sets of subtitles.

To make a CD: You must have a CD writer in your computer. Most newer computers already have CD Writers installed. Simply start playing the sermon in Media Player then click “File” then “Copy” or “CDs and Devices” then “Copy or Burn audio CD.” Put a blank CD in the CD writer and follow instructions. You can usually put two or three sermons per CD.

The tour follows a logical numbered route on your map and each place of interest on a CD is a different track. You need to pause the CD player when each section of commentary concludes, giving you time to explore, or when crossing streets. If you accidentally press STOP on a CD player it will return to the beginning, but you just select the appropriate track number for the next place you want to go to. With a cassette player you press STOP and PLAY accordingly.

A computer located in the Library has been set up to allow students to burn audio CDs of recorded lectures. Full instructions on how to do this are located next to the PC, but note that only lectures with a duration of less than 80 minutes will fit on an audio CD. For longer lectures, you will need to download the Windows Media file and listen to it on a computer (see the question "I want to listen to the lecture offline. How can I do this?").

Absolutely. AudioXT will record sound from any available source. However, you will need to make the necessary hardware connections to your PC. Some clients simply place their PC microphone next to their stereo speaker or cassette player for recording. If you have audio content on a CD or DVD player connected to your PC, simply play the file you want to record while in the AudioXT Wizard, and press the record button to record the file.

A Base Case CD-i player should be able to decode standard PCM audio as specified for CD-Audio, as well as a dedicated audio coding scheme called ADPCM, or Adaptive Delta Pulse Code Modulation. The difference with PCM is that audio is not stored individually per time segment, but that only the difference (delta) from the previous sample is recorded. This allows for a significant decrease in the used storage space on the disc, and hence in the datastream being read from the disc.

Use the software that came with your burner. Specify that the burn will be an "audio CD". Drag the mp3(s) to your layout. That's it. Note that you will get a maximum of 74 or 80 minutes of audio on each CD-R; this boils down to two 30-minute shows or one 60-minute show. Use 74min CD-R media for maximum playability. Some players have problems with CD-R, more with 80min media, and still more with CD-RW.

That's really beyond the scope of what I'm trying to do here, but you can generally do it with the software that came with your CD burner. There are two basic types of CDs you can burn, data and audio. You want audio in this case. Note that you may have to convert the MP3 file to .wav before your CD burning software will see it.

A single layer DVD (DVD 5) has a capacity of 4.7 billion bytes (equivalent to 4.38 Gigabytes) with double sided DVD having a capacity of 8.54 billion bytes (equivalent to 7.95 Gigabytes). A 4.38 GB DVD will store as much music as seven CD's (9 hours of music), it has seven times the capacity of a CD-ROM and it's the equivalent of 3,400 floppy discs.

Music may ONLY be on CD. If music is on a CD, it must be in the CDR (CD-Recordable) format. It cannot be in the CDRW (CD Re-writable) format. Duplicate CDs must be available in case of lost or broken tapes/CDs.

Yes. The amplifier has an auxiliary line input. You can connect a CD or Cassette with a cable so that the sound comes through the AmpliVox speakers. You can even control the volume separately from the mic volume because the aux input has its own volume and tone controls.

Absolutely. The choice available for most cars would be a cassette radio in the dashboard that controls a CD changer in the trunk. This is a terrific way to go as it provides you multiple disc choices and the ability to play cassette music, books on tape, etc. One other choice is to buy a radio that has both cassette and CD in it. The challenge here is that it is a larger radio so only certain vehicles with a larger opening, called double din, can fit this radio.

Red Book Audio refers to the technical standards that have been set by the audio industry for the physical production of CDs, such as the overall dimension of the CD, the size of the CD hole and how the audio is burned on to the CD. This CD Audio format is not the same as the format of wav or MP3 files. CD Audio is designed for listening on a CD Player.

DVD-Audio takes advantage of the large storage capacity, speed and flexibility possible with DVD. DVD-Audio provides for audio in stereo and in multi-channel surround in a wide range of specifications. In addition to audio, a DVD-Audio disk can contain a limited amount of video, which can be used to display text, such as lyrics or notes; or stills such as a photo album. Up to 16 graphic stills can be associated with each track and on-screen displays can be used for lyrics and disc navigation.

Yes. A dual-male minijack cord (available at Radio Shack or any electronic's store) can easily be plugged into the back of the computer and then into a tape recording device. Just play the MP3 on the computer and press record on the tape deck. Another alternative is a Riovolt MP3 CD player and a cassette adapter which is a great way to play the actual MP3 CDs in the car, please click here to see a list of recommended MP3 players.

You will first need to convert the FLAC files to another format that your burning program is familiar with. Windows users can use the FLAC Frontend, to convert FLAC files to WAV files, which are suitable for burning programs. For Macintosh OS X users, Dan Greuel has created a tool called MacFLAC.

Audio CD's are formatted in WAV and will play on any up to date CD player. For example, your home stereo unit, car CD player, boom boxes, & transportable DVD players. While CD-R, or CD-Recordable, is a "Write-Once, Read-Many" format, CD-RW discs have the potential to be written, then erased, then written to again. CD-RW media is generally more expensive than that of CD-R (from 50 to 200 percent more, although CD-Rs are often extremely inexpensive when on sale), but are reusable. Burning CD-R discs is faster, though how much depends on the specific drive.
