Yes. Course developers can create tests or transfer existing tests to an online format. The test can include the following types of elements: Scores are provided to students at the completion of tests if desired. For each question, the instructor can provide responses showing the student why an answer is correct or incorrect, along with other appropriate information about the answers.

MacroVOLT™ is a service of Macro International that provides Web-based teaching and training services. As a MacroVOLT™ Affiliate, you can develop courses for your students through a Web browser using your existing course materials. Students can receive individual, self-paced instruction, or you can use the system to enhance live-group instruction. Tests and quizzes can be administered, and reports of progress and certification also can be produced.

All tests and quizzes are taken online. Information for each timed test is found on the CIS108 WebCT Homepage.

Affiliates: Schools or organizations that have signed MacroVOLT™ licensing agreements and may use the system for their education and training activities. Affiliate Administrators: Staff members designated by an Affiliate to approve courses, appoint course developers, register students, authorize instructors, and generally manage the MacroVOLT™ operation for that Affiliate organization. An Affiliate may have more than one administrator.

Over the past 2 years, our servers have been operational more than 99.965 percent of the time. Most of our very minimal downtime is the result of a failure of the Internet itself. Macro International technical staff members are available around the clock to handle any system problems. If the electricity goes out for an extended period, MacroVOLT™ is powered by its own standby diesel electric generators.

Even with tens of thousands of users, we have never come close to the capacity of our Central Server. The precise answer depends on what the students are actually doing at any one time. For example, viewing a video lecture takes much more system capacity than reading the text of the lecture. Being part of a live session takes much more bandwidth than taking a test. We have had tens of thousands of people connected to our servers in the same hour.

You can use your own system if you wish. Students can be batch-registered for MacroVOLT™ courses from your computer system to Macro International. The completion records and test scores for each student also can be downloaded from the MacroVOLT™ Central Server to your system for your permanent records. Instructors and course developers generally prefer to use the MacroVOLT™ system for monitoring individual student performance because of the built-in data reporting system.

This tool allows you to create online assessments (i.e., tests, quizzes, and surveys) for delivery via a web interface to your students or other groups. You will use it mainly to administer tests, but you may also create assessments to gather survey information or informal course feedback. You can include multiple question types in an assessment, including ones that require your students to upload files. You then can choose how to organize, deliver, and collect that assessment.

Once your presentation is on our server you'll see a thumbnail view of all your slides. Above each slide you have a drop down menu. Here you can select to insert a slide before or after the current slide you selected. When you decide to insert a slide you can choose to insert a quiz or survey. Yes. These may or may not be announced beforehand. Students are advised to be prepared for these tests which will be taken into account in their final grade for the subjects concerned. To safeguard their own interest, students should avoid using pencils for writing (with exception for drawings, etc.) in their assignments, tests and examination scripts.

There are several kinds of tests and quizzes that we use to gauge a homeschooler’s understanding of the course material. Our online home education program uses these activities to ensure that homeschool students are staying on task with their studies. Some of our tests and quizzes are graded automatically (multiple choice, true-false). Others require active grading from our Academic counselors (free response, essay).

Point values are found in the test or quiz key, the DVD manual, or daily lessons (9-12). If no point values are given, divide the number of questions on the test or quiz into 100 to determine the number of points each question is worth.

You should receive feedback on all projects and labs on the days they are completed. Tests and quizzes will be returned within two days of your completion day.

Above all, MacroVOLT™ is versatile. This system enables virtually any distance-learning modality or method, including individual and group modes. Requirements are minimal because MacroVOLT™ is a Web-based system. Almost all of the software runs on the huge MacroVOLT™ Central Server in Rockville, MD. Each administrator, course developer, instructor, and student downloads a tiny software module that will run on the userâ??s local PC computer. (The Mac format is not supported at this time.) The PC computer needs no special storage or processing capability since the Central Server carries the load.

No. Nothing tracks activity on your computer, interferes with normal operations, or presents unwanted material. Like most everything about MacroVOLT™, the answer depends on what you choose. Most Affiliates want to brand their own courses and have students and staff members operate in a system with the look and feel of their organization, graphics, and Web site.

None. Only basic computer literacy is required. If you can send an e-mail with an attached file and operate Microsoft Word, you are ready to develop a MacroVOLT™ course. Absolutely. One of the advantages of online educational programs is that changes can be made as soon as they are desiredâ?"no waiting for the next print cycle or living with out-of-date or erroneous material. Course developers can access the system to make changes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Yes. Telephone conferences must be scheduled and arranged in the same manner as other live MacroVOLT™ events.

Yes. Each Affiliate receives 5 hours of no-cost telephone technical assistance. Additional support is provided for a modest charge. Technical assistance is available to administrators or course developers, and all Affiliates are provided with a technical assistance telephone number. In addition, each Affiliate is assigned a specific MacroVOLT™ Affiliate Advisor, who is available for strategic advice. You can discuss your account at any time with your advisor.

Whoever develops the course materials owns the copyright, unless the developer is being paid by an organization. In that case, the organization generally owns the copyright. Some of our Affiliates are nonprofit organizations that place their work in the public domain. By law, the U.S. Government cannot own a copyright; courses developed under Federal contracts are generally in the public domain.

Answer: You can take exams and quizzes on any computer with a stable Internet connection. You may log into an exam/quiz at any time during the period specified by the Instructor (usually a 24-hour window). Each exam/quiz is timed and must be completed before the set time limit. Links to the exam/quiz are provided for you on the course schedule page. Very detailed instructions accompany each exam/quiz.

Test and quiz requirements may vary by course and will be explained further by each instructor via the class syllabus.

Most classes incorporate tests, quizzes and homework to help determine a participant's performance in the class. Please read your individual class syllabus to determine whether your specific class will have tests, quizzes, homework, book reports, group projects, computer assignments, field trips, etc. Participants are responsible for fulfilling the requirements as outlined on the course syllabus.

We do not really have a prescribed amount of time for each test. VideoText focuses heavily on developing understanding, so if the student takes a little longer than normal, but really understands that particular concept, we are pleased with the result. Speed with that particular concept will usually come in later lessons, as we continue to use the concept while learning something new.

There is no "official" time limit except on speed tests, speed drills, and speed/comprehension quizzes. Regular tests should not take longer than 30-40 minutes. Quizzes should not take longer than 10-15 minutes.

In the Gradebook tool, you can see your scores for tests and quizzes (unless the instructor has turned off this feature). However, assignments don't automatically show up in the gradebook. So if your instructor hasn't manually entered assignment grades, you won't be able to see them. The email account you use might not be the same one that ETUDES-NG is sending to.
