Keeping children healthy is a partnership between parents, child care providers, the children themselves and the medical provider. Only a few illnesses require exclusion of sick children to ensure protection of other children and staff. Reasons to exclude a child include: The illness requires more care than the child care staff are able to provide without compromising the health and safety of the other children. UCC will close if the ISU offices are closed for weather-related reasons.

The U.C.C. stands for the Uniform Commercial Code. The laws concerning commercial and private transactions for the sale and leasing of goods developed out of the common law of both England and the United States. The majority of the law developed after the 1800's. At the end of the nineteenth century, England codified the common law principles into the Sale of Goods Act. The United States codified the laws into the Uniform Sales Act.

UCC Insurance, at least from the perspective of First American, is a product line of insurance products, which insure the attachment, perfection, and priority of a secured party's security interest in personal property.

A health and safety policy means the health and safety arrangements i.e. the effective planning, organisation, control, monitoring and review of the preventative and protective measures. If there are 5 or more employees these arrangements must be recorded. If there are less than 5 employees the appropriate arrangements still need to be in place.

opening is created when a child leaves the program; this usually happens at the end of an academic semester or during the Summer. The opening is filled as quickly as possible to ensure full enrollment in our center. It may be filled by moving up a child currently enrolled in a younger group, here at UCC, or by enrolling a new child. Infant, Toddler, Full-time Preschool & School-age programs open with planned activities; developmentally appropriate for each age range/program

For most young children, a nap or quiet time is a necessary part of the day. The infants sleep according to their individual time clocks. Toddlers and Pre-schoolers nap after lunch time. Quiet activities are available for children who do not nap. Infants sleep in cribs and children older than 18 months sleep on cots.

The meetings, which are typically held the first Tuesday of every month at 3:30 p.m. in Old Main room 203A are open to the entire campus community. If you are sponsoring a proposal or impacted by a proposal you are certainly encouraged to attend.

The UCC distribution list, also known as the mailing list, consists of academic deans, department chairs, program directors, members of University Forum, members of the UCC and administrative personnel including the Provost, Associate Provost, and Registrar. This is broadly representative of all stakeholder groups in the curriculum process and includes APSCUF and student representation.

The committee's specific composition was arrived at in a re-organization of university governance in the 1980s and is compliant with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The composition is provided for in Subsection 1A of the UCC Manual. Twelve faculty members, each of the three college deans, and three student representatives together comprise the 18 regular members of UCC.

By using a doctor or hospital in the network, you can save up to 50% on your health-care costs.

A deductible is the initial dollar amount you must pay out-of-pocket before an insurance company pays its share. It is usually a flat dollar amount. Usually the higher the deductible, the lower the premium. Coinsurance is the share or percentage of covered expenses you must pay in addition to the deductible. For example, your policy may pay 80% of covered charges after you pay the deductible. You would then pay the remaining 20% as coinsurance until a maximum out-of-pocket expense is reached.

Most individual and family health insurance policies limit coverage for pre-existing conditions during the first nine to twelve months of coverage. However, the pre-existing condition exclusion period is waived to the extent that the applicant has "qualifying" prior group coverage. This is a government-mandated requirement, though the health insurance company can still deny the application of someone whose health does not meet the insurance company's underwriting requirements.

Rescission usually occurs as a result of incomplete or inaccurate information submitted on the application, or an omission of information that is pertinent to the underwriting of the policy. Rescission means that the policy will be null and void from the beginning. All premiums should be refunded to the insured.

The Infant, Toddler, Full-Time Preschool, and School-age Programs open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. and operate all year, closing only for designated ISU office holidays. The Flex-care Preschool Program opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 5:00 p.m. and is open during ISU's fall and spring semesters. The Flex-care Program is closed during all ISU student breaks. The Morning-Only Preschool is open from 8:30 to 12:30. It is also closed during all ISU student breaks.

UCC provides breakfast, lunch and mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks for the children in attendance during those meal-times. The Center participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) sponsored by the USDA. The meals provided by UCC must meet the CACFP nutrition guidelines. Menus are posted in the parent information area in each building. Meals and snacks are served family-style at UCC. Infant needs are met on an individual basis.

For the current Academic Year, all UCC meeting minutes will be posted online at the UCC website (www.ship.edu/~ucc). The posting usually occurs within 10 days of the meeting. The minutes are also distributed to all members of the UCC distribution list (see below) and presented to University Forum. Draft minutes are typically approved at the next meeting of the UCC. All subcommittee meeting minutes are included with that respective month's committee wide meeting minutes.

The fee for filing a UCC document in Nassau County is $50, plus $10 for each additional block after the first.
