This is not a skill everyone can acquire. Thin stainless can be spot-welded which is suitable for the combustion chamber and case. The NGV assembly will require MIG or TIG welding. TIG sets are expensive and it may be necessary to find a specialist welder used to welding stainless steel to do the welding for you. Modern engines employ a casting for the NGV which is more stable during natural heat cycling.

AL-6XN alloy and 316L stainless steel can be joined easily using standard welding practices for austenitic stainless steel. However, from a corrosion resistance viewpoint, this joining is not recommended if avoidable. Whenever welding two different materials together, it is important to consider the galvanic potential between the two materials.

Weld-Crete® is applied as a liquid and as it dries to a thin, flexible film, it forms a tenacious bond to the structural surface. The dry film is reactivated by the moisture and chemical reaction that occurs as the new concrete cures. Full bonding strength is achieved after the new concrete has completely cured.

J-B Weld works great on ANY metal surface (lead is an exception). Use as directed on package and J-B Weld will get the job done.

Speaker compatibility with tube amps is a function of load impedance, sensitivity, room size and listening levels. A narrow phase angle impedance that is contained within a small window [say 8-ohm nominal, no lower than 6 and no higher than 10] is best. Impedances higher than 8-ohm are useful for micro-power SETs and OTLs. Sensitivities of 90dB or higher work with most low-power SETs, but if the impedance curve (as it is with all Soliloquy models) remains truly benign, even 88dB might do.

When welding in a floor and tunnel, use a rosette weld about 3" to 4" apart. It is not necessary to weld the entire edge of a floor. This will cause severe warpage (too much heat). Tube amps are a very old technology and are difficult beasts to handle - especially if you don't know what you are doing. Inside the power amp is typically voltages ranging from just 12 volts to 440 Volts+ in DC - which will easily kill you - especially if you get electrocuted with both hands.

I have worked with both but in limited amounts. I have worked with a number of different alloys of spring steel making swords and daggers. I have found some that work really well for blades but am still undecided which alloy I feel works best for armour. Spring steel requires hardening and tempering in order to realize its full benefits. These processes are a bit touchy to get just right. If it is hardened too much or not tempered enough it can be brittle.

We haven't tried but don't see a reason why it wouldn't work. It is up to the manufacturer of such a crank to determine the interface's suitability through appropriate testing.

Because of the extreme temperatures of exhaust systems, we do not recommend J-B Weld for use on exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters. Nor do we recommend the product for repairs within the combustion chamber.

Only the base coat is bonded to Weld-Crete®. The base coat should be a minimum of 3/8". The base coat must be allowed to dry 24 hours before the finish coat is applied to prevent flooding of the bond line.

The UV-Tube design concept incorporates a germicidal bulb suspended over water in a horizontal tube or covered trough.
