We are currently working with renderers who handle the bulk of these cattle to arrange for sample collection. We are also urging producers and veterinary practitioners to assist by reporting downers and other cattle in those target groups for sample collection.

A sampler device permits the recording (sampling) and replay (playback) of audio in a digital format - so a sampled sound is one that has been digitized and stored in the RAM memory of a sampler. The sampler allows the digitized audio file to be amplified and manipulated in different ways, for example: playback of the sampled sound at a different speed will alter its pitch.

The animals are tended as humanely as possible up to point of slaughter to minimize stress. This process is done quickly as possible to eliminate trauma to the animal. We request steam cleaned facilities before our animals go through the slaughter process to eliminate cross contamination with grain fed animals. HAACP rules are followed thoroughly. [back to top]

Randall cattle are a critically rare breed of cattle native to the United States. They were historically used as a dairy breed under subsistence farm conditions in their native Vermont. Today, Randalls are considered to be a triple purpose breed. While their primary function remains milk production, they are also used for meat and draft power.

This is because they originated from, and were bred in an area known as Friesland. This area is now a province located in the north of the Netherlands, but before the 12th century was a large area including the North of Europe bordering the North Sea. The cattle were also bred in this area by the same people. The language spoken in this area is very different to Dutch, and is much older than English. This is the reason that Friesian horses often have typically Friesian Names.

The band was unaware of that film until after lead singer Mike Patton joined Faith No More in 1989. Faith No More bassist Bill Gould reportedly gave Patton a copy of the video. You can also buy some glue boards and place them in window sills and on the floor near the walls and see what you catch over a period of a few days. Use flat glue boards, without raised edges.You are welcome to bring in glue boards for pest identification.

The Project Team started with a database of IT positions created for the Associate Provost of Information Technology. From there, we’ve met and reviewed names, and in some cases reviewed position descriptions. Next, we sent lists of those we identified as IT to each planning unit asking them to review, add, or delete, and to provide rationale for their decisions.

We’d like to but it is very difficult to do without specimens; verbal descriptions rarely suffice. If the identification is important to you consult your local library, especially a college or university library, for references used to identify the native or horticultural plants of your area. Illustrations, either photos or line drawings, can be most helpful.

Randall cattle do have a "colorsided" lineback color pattern, but this pattern is not unique to Randalls, nor does it define them genetically. The term "Lineback" is more traditionally used to describe American Linebacks, a breed heavily influenced by Holstein blood and often found on commercial dairies around New England and elsewhere.

Size of Randall cattle: While Randalls are often described as being medium in size, the real answer is "it depends". Largely due to their landrace roots, Randalls are highly variable in size. There seems to be a correlation between family lines, body type, and size. A mature female of the "landrace" type may have a mature weight of 600 lbs. or less, while a female of a type loosely resembling a grade Holstein may weigh 1100 lbs. or more.

Randall cattle represent a unique and irreplaceable gene pool that should be preserved not only for its ability to contribute to the present trend towards local, small scale, low input agriculture, but as with all rare livestock breeds, for unknown benefits to human generations yet unborn. Many functional characteristics possessed by the Randalls have been lost in production breeds, and are eroding even in some of the rare livestock breeds.

There are no hard and fast requirements for becoming a Randall cattle owner and breeder. However, breeding stock is presently difficult to find as most breeders are building their herds. As with all critically rare livestock breeds, there is an implied expectation of stewardship associated with ownership.

Most of the dairy cows are grazed on grass-based pastures during summertime. In addition, grain-based concentrates are given according to milk yield. The winter-feeding is most commonly based on direct-cut or pre-wilted grass silage supplemented with grains (barley and/or oats), protein (rape seed meal or rape seed expeller) and minerals. Commercial concentrate mixtures are fed on some dairy farms.

Our cattle come from farms and ranches throughout the south and southwest. All of the cattle in our program are raised and processed in Texas, although some of the animals may have been born elsewhere. As is common practice, our ranching and feeding partners may purchase young calves that were born in Mexico but live the majority of their lives under the care and feeding of U.S. producers.

Our family of producers use our Grassfed Organics production protocol to ensure that the quality of the product you receive is consistent time after time. Here is what you can count on. We use no hormonal growth implants. This is a practice often used in beef production to speed up growth and weight gain. Faster gain equals shorter time from birth to finishing. This means more money for the producer. We won't do this! We will not sacrifice your health for money.

All cattle slaughtered in federally inspected establishments in the United States are subject to inspection. FSIS inspectors examine cattle to identify any symptoms of disease, including signs of central nervous system impairment. Cattle that are suspect for any reason are examined by an FSIS veterinarian to determine whether the animal is eligible for slaughter. Cattle that show signs of systemic illness and disease are condemned and not allowed into the human food supply.

The Canadian Angus Association registers both Black and Red Angus. The CACP tag ensures the cattle are the offspring of at least one registered Angus parent. So cattle with the CACP tag are at least 50% Angus regardless of the coat color.

Anyone who owns or manages the cattle may tag them. However we must be able to verify the cattle are the offspring of a registered Angus parent, so if someone other than the original breeder tags the cattle, we need verification from that original breeder of the cattle's parentage.

BSE has been of great concern since 1986, when it was first reported among cattle in the United Kingdom. At its peak, in January 1993, almost 1,000 new cases per week were identified. The outbreak in the United Kingdom may have started from the feeding of scrapie-contaminated sheep meat-and-bone meal to cattle. Scrapie is a disease of sheep that is related to BSE in cattle.

We've put great expenses and effort into fencing Homestead Farm to keep the hordes of deer from destroying the crops. The fence has helped keep the deer herds out, but the open gate at the main entrance has been a weak spot. Deer have been able to walk right in. To prevent this, yet keep traffic moving, Farmer Ben has put in a Cattle Guard. This feature is a concrete "grate" that makes it less likely for deer to just walk in (they will not walk on it).

The major issues in sampled-data systems such as those used in motion, robotic and continuous process control are: how to assure that all outputs are present and ready for sampling before beginning the next cycle of sampling and execution. Solutions to these problems typically require specialized communication and operating system services, which can be represented in terms of the IEC 61499 model by service interface function blocks.
