Yes, we do accept digital camera files. Some cameras perform better in certain lighting conditions, so not all digital camera files are accepted. 10MP camera files and above are accepted. 8MP camera files are accepted only on a case-by-case basis. There are many good digital cameras on the market. Look for at least 1-2 mega pixel resolution, flash, macro capability and a preview screen. SLR cameras are more accurate for close-up photos. Yes, if you print a high-resolution digital file onto ink jet photo paper, the results will be similar to regular film processed photos. Any high-quality print is fine. However, if you have a digital camera, we would still prefer that you email us the photo.

Most digital cameras have proprietary file formats. If your camera outputs jpg, you can send the picture. If not, you need to open it in an image editing program and save it as a jpg file.

If you have access to a scanner, scan your photo at 300 dpi and save it as a .jpg or .tif file. Then you can e-mail the file to us. If you prefer to send a physical photo, we will provide you with our mailing address and you can mail it to us. Your original photo will be returned with your final order.

All photos taken before October, 2000 were taken with either a Fuji MX-1200 or a Fuji Finepix 1400. Both of these cameras are 1.3 Megapixel, resulting in low resoultion pictures. All other pictures were photographed using a Nikon Coolpix 990, a 3.34 megapixel camera. I cannot recommend enough Nikon's digital cameras. They were developed with both the amateur and the professional in mind. If you are looking at purchasing a digicam, decide on the features you want before you start shopping.
