The Space Generation Congress is being run by a select committee of the Space Generation Advisory Council. The organizing committee is an experienced team of previous SGC delegates, all of whom have specialist skills in their area of responsibility.

SGC is Server Gated Cryptography. This does have the ability to up rate a weak browser to a stronger (128bit) browser without the need to upgrade. It was introduced at a time that the US encryption export laws were stringent. SGC Certificates rely on the webserver software being able to handle SGC. Aust Secure does not at this time issue SGC certificates.

This is organized by the nonprofit foundation, Eurofaerie (www.eurofaerie.org) based in Amsterdam. Any remaining profits from the gathering will go into a fund for scholarships for the next gathering.

No you don't have to present anything. But you are welcome to create a workshop or discussion session on the spot. That is what Virtual Space is - where the attendees are truly responsible for the learning. You don't have to be an expert to present. People should not be expecting to come to the CEEPS simply to listen to the 'experts'. There is a vast treasure of knowledge in the experience that you have, and that everyone else has. This gathering simply allows one to tap into that wealth.

Yes! Sponsors are welcome to address the congress in a formal or informal environment during a number of occasions throughout the congress. In particular, top-teired sponsors will be invited to present a key-note address during the congress.

In the United States, the SGAC is a registered not-for-profit organization under Form 501(c)(3) and is tax deductible to the full extent allowed under this provision.

SGC 2006 is organized by the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) in support of the United Nations Programme on Space Applications - the only body through which students' and young professionals' views are represented to the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (UN COPUOS). SGC 2006 is officially endorsed by the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UN OOSA).

Sponsors are encouraged to help the SGAC grow its projects and meet the key performance indicators. Throughout the year, sponsors will be provided with a brief progress reports of the projects.

U.S. government restrictions on U.S. vendors prevented the export of "strong" cryptography several years ago. As a result, many people purchased computers or downloaded export version browsers supporting only 40- or 56-bit SSL encryption. Microsoft developed "Server Gated Cryptography" ("SGC") and Netscape developed "step-up" technology to enable 128-bit SSL encryption with export versions of browsers.

There will be multiple leadership and skills development workshops at SGC that all delegates will attend. However, some of the time will be spent in smaller groups discussing specific ideas or projects. Applicants are not expected to have extensive background knowledge in the project topics, but should be interested in taking an active role in the development and leadership of the topic.

If you are convinced that SGC is worth coming to, your first task should be to share that reason with someone who can help you come, and convince them that it is worthwhile for them to support them. Share your dream and vision with you local community club, local government, and nearby universities. Ask you local space companies for support and tell them how you will make a positive change to their industry. If your desire is real, so will be their desire to help you.
