There is no set age to be a patient at Planned Parenthood. Each year, more than 600,000 women worldwide die from pregnancy-related causes; almost half of them could be saved by family planning alone. Spacing pregnancies by two years or more can reduce the risks of maternal mortality by more than half. Further, family planning can prevent unplanned pregnancies, which often end in unsafe abortions, and it can prevent high-risk pregnancies among adolescents.

In January 2001, when President Bush signed the Global Gag Rule (officially known as the Mexico City Policy), IPPF/WHR expressed its opposition to the return of this harmful policy which forbids federal international family planning funds from going to foreign organizations that provide abortion-related activities, including counseling on abortion and lobbying to change abortion laws.

We provide services at little or no cost for people who qualify for subsidized family planning and at an economical cost for those who do not qualify. All centers accept regular Medicaid. The two organizations share office space in Indianapolis, Indiana. NCPG provides administrative services to the Council for a minimal fee.
