Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be an experienced rider?

OZALPS -=- Motorcycle tours of the European Alps for Austral...
Yes. You need to be able to handle an open-class road bike (smallest are 650cc- see 'bikes') over a variety of road surfaces and in traffic. The European Alps are no place to learn the basics. You should also consider that we back up 3 days of riding before resting a day, so some understanding/ experience in motorcycle touring is an advantage. Riding on 'the wrong' side of the road is not as daunting as it sounds - it usually only takes a day or so for your brain to 'switch polarity'.

FAQs - Perol Chico - Peruvian Paso Horses - Sacred Valley, C...
Yes and no. The problem is how do you define "an experienced rider." We have seen some novice riders who found it immediately easy to ride our horses, while some experienced riders have found it more difficult than expected. Our horses are warm-blooded, and therefore spirited, and riders need to be able to handle them. For our longer tours, it is important that you have experience in order to be able to handle several long days in the saddle in difficult terrain.

My friend is an experienced rider but I am not. Can we still go together on a trek?

Island View Riding Stables - FAQ - Sligo
Yes, of course. Most of the time we will be able to send two guides on your trek so that you both can enjoy a ride at your very own pace. Under exceptional circumstances you might only have one guide who will certainly try to give the experienced rider an opportunity to canter. However there are situations where the weakest rider will set the pace.
