Yes, New tree dark chocolates are vegan, given that no animal products are used in making the chocolate or in processing/refining the sugar in our chocolate. NEWTREE makes six dark chocolates which do not contain any milk. However, our chocolates are made in a facility that also uses milk, walnuts, hazelnuts and pistachios. All of our bars are manufactured using the same equipment.

Rapunzel chocolate is made at the chocolate manufacturer Maestrani in the Swiss town of St. Gallen. Maestrani creates all the different chocolates on the same equipment (belts, pipelines, vats, filling lines). The machines are running almost constantly so there is no need to 'clean' the system every day. Before organic chocolate for Rapunzel is produced, the lines are flushed through with the first quantities of organic ingredients, which are then purged at the end.

It has become very popular in aromatherapy to use only organic oils. In our experience, organic may not necessarily mean better. When oils are steam distilled, offensive or harmful pesticides are left behind. The pesticide reside is too big to pass through the distillation process.
