Despite Canon’s vigorous advertising campaign against third-party lenses a lot of people happily use lenses made by Tamron, Tokina and Sigma (and lenses with other brandnames but probably built by one of those three). And there’s one really good reason for this - the third party lenses are almost always much much cheaper than equivalent offerings from Canon. So. Should you buy a third party lens? It’s not a simple yes/no issue, so here are some points to consider.

A non-canon character is one that did not appear on the show and was invented by a fan fiction writer. Non-canon characters that recur in stories in only small, possibly comic relief roles are perfectly acceptable. Non-canon characters who appear in only one story and are never seen again are also fine. Writers need to "people" a story so the canon characters have someone to interact with.

These are standard terms for describing what's officially a part of the story and what isn't. Characters, actions, and events that are officially a part of the Wotch, as determined by Anne and Robin, are considered canon; and everything else that might happen, or might be discussed in the forum or written about or drawn in fan-created works is considered non-canon unless Anne and Robin say otherwise.

For Enhanced style printing, WebRecord Pro usually uses a print processor that reads the image files from WebRecord Pro's disk cache as required as each page is printed. If you exit WebRecord Pro before printing is finished, the disk cache is cleared and the images are no longer available for printing. You can avoid this by not exiting WebRecord Pro while printing is still in progress. This is not an issue when using Standard style printing.

Canon doesn't recommend the use of non-Canon high-voltage packs (of course), but no reports [to my knowledge] of a 3rd-party pack damaging a430EZ have been reported. The most popular 3rd-party H packs are based on lead-acid technology. To attach the pack to the 430EZ, an additional adaptor cable is required. Damage to your flash as a result of connecting to a 3rd-party pack will (of course) void the warranty.

Canon sell a number of lenses in a special series they refer to as L for “luxury.” These are their most expensive and highest-quality lenses, and are readily identifiable by the red stripe painted around the end of the barrel. L series lenses offer higher optical quality than their non-L equivalents, and have an important technical aspect in common.

Absolutely. The 100mm 2.8 macro and macro USM lenses are both excellent portrait lenses in addition to being great macro lenses. The only problem is that they’re extremely sharp lenses, and some people prefer softer lenses for portraiture, particularly of women. If you’re in that camp you could always slap a soft focus filter onto the lens.

No. For the G1/G2, the Canon lens cap is a nonstandard size designed to fit the trim ring (that you remove when attaching any adapter) at the base of the lens only. With the LensMate adapter on, any standard 49mm snap-in, screw-on or slide-on lens cap will fit. For the G3/G5, you may choose from many standard 52mm or 58mm caps (depending on which size G3/G5 adapter you are using) including the "clip-in" type we sell.

this time there are presently not any wireless LANC controllers available that we know of (other than the short range controller that comes with the camera). What are you looking to upgrade? If you need IS, get the 17-55mm f2.8. If you can't afford the 17-55, and you really, really need IS – and you're not that unhappy with the resolution of the kit lens – get the Canon 17-85mm IS, but know this: it is considerably softer, and up to two stops slower, than the excellent Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. the time of writing, there is no Canon equivalent of the excellent VR (image stabilised) long Nikon zooms.

Yes! Many of you will have got these lenses with your DSLR and will want to put them to use underwater. Both the Canon 17-85mm and Nikon 18-70mm will work well with the filter. However neither are really excellent quality lenses for UW photography and therefore we do not supply 67mm diameter filters pre cut to fit these lenses. Your will need to buy a M77 for these lenses. And then either mount it in a 77mm filter holder (that we can suppy) and fit it to your lens with a step-up filter ring.

Before using any unfamiliar studio strobe or other non-dedicated flash unit with an EOS camera, we STRONGLY recommend that you determine its trigger circuit voltage. Excessive trigger circuit voltage can damage the shutter units and X-contacts of most modern 35mm SLR cameras. Please be aware of the following information: Trigger Circuit Voltage: The "trigger circuit" is the part of any electronic flash that detects the X-sync signal from the camera and then fires the flash.

The major issue you really have to be concerned about is weight, since a really heavy lens can strain the lens mount. The answer is to support the heavy lens by the lens itself - just let the camera hang off the back of the lens. The weight of the camera is not going to strain the lens mount. This applies to all low to midrange EOS cameras, since even those cameras with metal lens mounts have steel mounts attached to plastic body frames.

Because of the built-in motor, 3rd party lenses for EOS are generally more expensive than their non-EOS counterparts. Canon has been pretty secretive about their lens interface. There have been a few postings to the net implying that Sigma lenses don't AF very well on Canon EOS cameras, or if they do, they only do so for a limited time before failing. On the other hand many users are very happy with Sigma lenses and report no problems at all. Failures may just be isolated cases.

That depends. Many third party lensmakers - Tamron, Sigma and Tokina being the big three - manufacture lenses specifically designed to fit Canon EOS cameras. These lenses will, of course, work fine with EOS cameras. The main caveat is the compatibility with the electronics detailed above. However, if you have a third-party lens which does not physically fit onto your EOS camera then you can obviously assume that the lens will not work with EOS cameras.

The lens is the part of the eye that helps focus light on the retina. The retina is the eye's light-sensitive layer that sends visual signals to the brain. In a normal eye, light passes through the lens and gets focused on the retina. To help produce a sharp image, the lens must remain clear.

A lens implant (intraocular lens or IOL) is a man-made, clear plastic lens approximately 6 mm in diameter which is placed inside the eye at the time the cataract is removed. If you can afford a digital SLR then I highly recomend you get one, if not, any second hand cheap film camera body, preferably Canon or Nikon will do just fine. I used to use an old Canon EOS 1000FN. Canon & Nikon are preferable because should you want to move forward in this area of photography you'll end up wanting to use more and better lenses. Canon & Nikon are the current clear leaders in high quality lenses and are the choice of the vast majority of professional photographers.

The lens is a 100 mm Macro (around $600) and the ring flash is a MR-14EX (around $499). You can also use a Sigma 105 mm Macro lens (around $359). Can't go wrong with Canon paper. I like Glossy. If I was sending a before and after to a referring doctor, I would print 8.5 x 11. I would arrange the images and text in Photoshop Elements and print in Landscape orientation.

Canon is still canon but of course your characters are allowed to try and change their future. For example, Percy might have married Audrey but maybe it's because Penelope Clearwater died (which we're not saying she did at this point.) If Penelope came back from the dead and he was still in love with her that might cause some trouble.

Recent Canon SLRs use a system called E-TTL to determine flash exposure. (Newer models use E-TTL II, which seems to be more robust.) E-TTL is praised by some for allowing very precise control over flash exposure when used properly, but it is slammed by others for being too sensitive to very small changes in the center of the image and requiring too much planning to get proper "automatic" exposure. There is probably some truth in both positions.
