Ultraviolet (UV) causes fading in fabric, degradation of paper, loss of vitamins and riboflavin, and adds to discoloration of food products. It can also be a problem for people suffering from a wide variety of illnesses because they are photosensitive. For instance, as many as 60% of lupus patients are photosensitive and are adversely effected by exposure to UV.

First, it is misleading to compare price on an unprotected lamp and a protected lamp, because you are comparing apples to oranges. R" lamp is a "Reflector" lamp. Most high-hats or recessed fixtures require "R" lamps to get the most efficient lighting. The reason is simple, any light that doesn't go straight down is wasted light Reflector lamps reflect the majority of the lighting down where you want it. Although some recessed fixtures can use "A" lamps (standard light bulbs) you have to lower the wattage due to heat build up and waste energy.

Depending on conditions in your home or office, you will see dust (and other particles) settle on the edges of the misting bowl and in the water. You may wipe the bowl with a cloth or paper towel, and periodically empty out the water, wash the bowl, and refill.

Never use any liquid to clean the mineral plate or it will fall apart. Your lamp should be fine with an occassional dusting when the lamp head is cool. Do not bang your lamp into things or drop it as you will break it this way. Do not take your lamp head apart to clean it.

Taking care of your Salt of The Earth Natural Salt Lamp from Salt Lamp Creations is easy. As Salt Lamps can be very heavy, place it on safe surface. To remove dust or dirt, use a slightly damp cotton cloth and then dry with a fresh dry cotton cloth. In regions that experience a high level of humidity keeping your Lamp lit will keep the surface dry. Should your Salt Lamp become damp simply pat it down with a clean, cotton cloth.

Be sure the lamp is unplugged and there are no electrical hazards present before proceeding. If the plug or adjacent area to where the plug is located is wet, do not attempt to unlug the lamp. Use only a soft cloth. Many polishes are too abrasive and could affect the finish. If you use polished brass outdoors, know that it will tarnish, but car wax will preserve the finish.

LAMP is an electronic music library of classical and contemporary CDs that may be accessed across the MIT campus, including in student dormitory rooms and faculty offices. While at MIT, patrons can listen to CDs in the collection on demand, free of charge, over the MIT cable television system. You should always use a product that is designed and sold specifically for cleaning acrylic shields only! Never ever use a product that contains ammonia (such as glass cleaner). Products containing ammonia will cause a fogging of the acrylic which will block the transmission of UV rays from the lamps in the tanning bed. The end result would be unhappy tanners that will not be receiving the appropriate exposure while in your tanning bed.

Go to the Advanced Tab in Privacy Shield, make sure the "Load Privacy Shield on Windows Startup" and "Do Cleaning on Privacy Shield Startup" checkboxes are checked.
