Unfortunately external card readers are not supported, so in general only USB drives support ReadyBoost. We recommend you use only a Super Talent RBST USB drive that is designed for and tested with ReadyBoost.

SD cards are more commercial and are usually in plastic cases, whereas CF cards are mainly in metal cases. This therefore gives the CF card better noise immunity and makes them more robust in general because of the physical package.

Make sure you are in tuned to the desired AM/FM station prior to setting a reserved (future) recording. Push the A-B button on Radio Yourway to switch to the SD/MMC card and next press the TIMER Button twice and the reserved recording screen appears. After selecting the day, set the hour by using FW or RW and pushing PLAY (same as before) to select the desired hour (do the same for minutes). Well, for a start, SD is a later standard, backwards compatible with MMC in that the slot design is nominally the same. The drive must support USB 2.0 and must be able to access data at 3.5 megabits per second for 4-kilobit random reads uniformly across the entire device, and at 2.5 mbps for 512-kilobit random writes uniformly across the device. As a practical matter, it's tough to find these specs for a flash drive before you buy it, so make sure that your vendor is reasonable about returns.

The Marantz PMD660 is designed to work with standard type I or type II Compact Flash cards, or Microdrives. Because of the variety of different card formulations evolving on the market, it has been discovered that some CF manufacturers cards work better with the PMD660 than others. Current suggested manufacturers include; LEXAR, PNY, VIKING, IBM, and HITACHI. Please be aware that although cards by companies not listed above may work with the PMD660, they are not recommended.

The Core Modules are shipped with a standalone version of the BLACKSheep. The BLACKSheep standalone version does not support peripherals. To get full access to the peripherals of your eval board you have to flash the Core Modules with the BLACKSheep version according to your baseboard, either the DEV-BF5xx or the EVAL-BF5xx. The appropriate BLACKSheep versions can be found on your support CD or you can download the latest version from our homepage.

For the most part, the version you choose will depend on your personal preferences and which type of media you would like to buy. Due to the size of the media, the CF version will stick out the most, the SD version less, MiniSD is just like a GBA cartdridge and microSD version fits perfectly in DS Lite. The price of media and the size of available media will vary based on the type you choose.

Most memory cards will work. Although some cards will perform better than others (see the Media Card Compatability List for more details). For the M3 SD. most SD compatible cards will work, including Mini and Micro SD cards in adapter housings. If you want to get a cheaper card, it is advisable to check the Media Card Compatability List for your brand/size. Be advised that just because the 512MB one worked doesn't mean the 1GB one will (although it is usually the case that it will).

There are positive and negative reviews out there. I recommend sticking with normal MMC cards as no one as reported speed increases with the new cards.

Absolutely. If done properly, the use of Flash, while not a Web standard technology, can be a fine addition to a Web standards compliant site. There are even methods to insure your Flash will not choke the W3C's XHTML validator. An all-Flash site, however, would probably not fall into that category. Macromedia is a very forward-thinking company however and Flash does have a future on the Web, so time will tell.

Not out-of-the-box, but there's a work-around to get Konqueror to use 32-bit plugins instead of 64-bit; see the post on the gentoo forums. You can also use a 32-bit web-browser, such as Opera, or a version of Firefox from mozilla.org. (The package included in Slamd64 is a 64-bit package)

ReadyBoost supports 256MB to 4GB USB drives with minimum 1.75MB per second write speed. All Super Talent 120X USB drives support ReadyBoost.

At this point in time, I think the creators of the SuperCard have worked hard to keep both at the same levels. I may be mistaken (if so, PM me!) but they should both function just as well as each other. The only real difference that I'm aware of is that the CF version doesn't have as long a battery life as the SD version.
