There are programs that claim to be able to take MP3 files and decode them and burn them to an audio CD all in one operation... MP3 CD Maker is one such program. I believe Nero can also do this. I tried MP3 CD Maker, and I couldn't get it to even burn a single track successfully, and many other people seem to have had problems with it as well... but I suppose *somebody* somewhere must have got it to work. Nero is one of my favourites. Decode the MP3 files to WAV files.

No, normal CDs are CD-DA format; MP3s are in (yes!) MP3 format. Some new Discman-type players will play MP3s, but most don't like low-bitrate files. That means it will play audio CD-Rs (and even then you might expect hardware/media incompatibility due to different wavelengths used on DVD and CD media). Unless your unit specifically claims to play low-bitrate MP3 files you can assume it will not be able to play them at all. Consult your manual for specifics.

Some non-PC players can't handle CD-R and/or CD-RW media. If the audio disc can be played on the PC that created it, then the software did it's job. Please check with your player manufactrer for compatibility with your specific brand, type and speed rating of the blank media.

WMVHD files, typically created for playback on the XBOX360, can contain a 5.1 audio stream. If you play such a file on a computer that only has two speakers then you will only hear the sound from two of the six channels. This causes for example the voices (center channel) to be almost unhearable. The solution is to downmix the 5.1 channels into 2 channels. There are two ways to do this. Yes... just connect the "Line-out" from your soundcard to an "Aux-in" or something of the sort on your recorder. Don't use "Phono in" sockets though - they will be intended for connection from a turntable with a magnetic cartidge, which means that they will be expecting a very low level signal distorted in a particular peculiar way. Connecting a line level signal to those could even blow your amplifier, and will certainly sound horrible.

Note that you will get a maximum of 74 or 80 minutes of audio on each CD-R; this boils down to two 30-minute shows or one 60-minute show. Use 74min CD-R media for maximum playability. Not all players get along with all brands of CD-R/RW media. You will need to find a combination of recorder, media, and player that get along. Sometimes the CD player will have no problem playing the tracks, but will have a great deal of difficulty seeking between tracks or moving fast-forward. Using a different brand of media or a different CD player may produce better results. Some media work better at 1x, 2x, or 4x speeds. You may find that slowing down or speeding up the recorder helps.

Convert your MP3 files to WAV files first. This is easy to do - almost all MP3 players can do it.. e.g. with Winamp, press Ctl-P to get Preferences, then select Output in the left hand window, then select Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in in the left window... then press the Configure button to choose which directory you want your WAV files saving in.
