We have both cedar and asphalt shingles. The asphalt shingle is available in a cedar color only. If you want to match the shingles on your house we could delete our shingles from the shed package and you could purchase matching shingles on your own.

We use high grade 35-50 year warrented shingles. Each Triangle is shingled separately. The point down triangle bottom edges overlap the point up triangles by 6". We do not use any ridge cap shingles. We do not use any caulks or sealants which usually fail in 3-5 years. We use ice & water shield membranes at the top of the dome, in valleys and around skylights. We have hundreds of domes and they DO NOT leak, period.

We are not equipped to install every type of roofing that is on the market. Our sheds come standard with a 20 yr. 3-tab shingle. For a nicer look, we offer an optional 30 yr. dimensional shingle in a wide range of colors. If you want tile or wood shake, you will need to find someone else to do your roofing. (return to top)

No. If we were to apply color to Shingle Shield it would be unable to release zinc oxide – the active ingredient that protects your roof.

Based on the thickness of the zinc that is Shingle Shield, it is reasonable to assume that it will remain effective in excess of 20 years. Climate may also be a factor in this estimate.

No. The zinc oxide it releases is microscopic and absorbed by the shingles. It is possible, although unlikely, that the attachment nails will leave rust stains. We recommend the use of quality, double hot-dipped galvanized roofing nails, such as Maze? brand.

Answer: We use a white one-piece 4-layer foam-core molded fiber-glass roof with galvanealed steel "ribs" molded into the roof. This makes a strong "roll-cage" to protect your horses in the terrible event of a trailer accident / roll over. A white roof is essential for solar reflection outside and good lighting inside (which is why your ceiling at home is white).

While we cannot readily endorse any other installation method, you may be able to attach Shingle Shield by using a roof mastic (adhesive).

Yes. But be cautioned that Shingle Shield is designed specifically for use with three tab shingles. The installer assumes complete responsibility as to how to attach the product to a wood roof. The primary objective is to have rain water run over Shingle Shield, then onto the areas affected by fungus, moss, or algae.

This is a question about dissimilar metals corrosion. Zinc and aluminum are adjacent on the electro-chemical scale. The farther apart metals are on the scale the greater the likelihood that they will have an affect on one another. The fact that zinc and aluminum are so close indicates that there would be little problem, even if they were to come in direct contact with one another on the roof, which they should not.

Once you have cleaned your roof, Shingle Shield Roof Protector zinc strips should be installed to inhibit the return of algae, fungus, or moss. Stains caused by pollution, pine pollen, dirt, etc., will need to be re-cleaned as deemed necessary to maintain your roof’s neat appearance.

A metal roof will last at least 2-3 times longer than a regular roof. An asphalt roof needs re-roofing every 12-20 years, while a metal roof will last 40 years and beyond. Other roofing materials begin to decompose as soon as they are exposed to the elements. A metal roof will never decompose and will hold its good looks for decades. Yes, but most times you need to install additional window and door trim to ensure that the product lies flush with windows and doors. Sometimes this additional trim requirement makes it less expensive to tear off the old siding and start from scratch.
