We have applied for AKC recognition and are waiting for a response at the present time. We have had many people who are wanting to breed the Klee Kai, who also want to be able to show our dogs, thus the application. We are also looking at some people in other countries who want to get involved in the breed but cannot use any other venue besides AKC and FIC to show their dogs.

They are recognized by almost every other country in the world and so far have been accepted into the AKC-FSS for record keeping and effective September 1, 2001, they will be allowed to compete in AKC Miscellaneous Class. No. At this time the Dogo Canario is not given any recognition by the American Kennel Club. Some dogs in the US are registered with the Foundation Stock Service of the AKC. Do not be mislead by those who advertise AKC registered when what they actually have is FSS registration.

TICA has recognized the Bengal, and there are many Champion Bengals. Our Breeding program has Bengals of champion blood. Only recently, the summer of 1997, has ACFA once again allowed Bengals show status. Years back some unscrupulous breeders passed off foundation cats as Bengals. At one of CFA's shows a foundation cat was unruly and Bengals were yanked from the shows. Everyone paid the price, and only now has the wrong been righted.

Yes,unless the puppy has a known fault and should not be bred, in which I would make sure you were aware at the time of purchase, the reg. would be limited and you could not reg.puppies. If there are no apparent faults, then I leave the responsibility up to the new owner. However, I strongly advise you to spay/neuter your pet. There are many responsibilities and  a lot of time involved  to properly care for your dog and her puppies.

The Dogue de Bordeaux will be fully AKC recognized in July 2008. In July 2006, the breed stepped up from Foundation Stock Service (FSS) in AKC to Miscellaneous. Just because a dog is AKC registered doesn't mean it should be bred. A registered dog simply means that it's parents are also registered with the same registry. This confers no merit in itself, it simply means that the dog's lineage is known. Most registries do not make any assertions of quality in the dogs they register. They do not restrict the breeding of their dogs and there is no guarantee that a "registered" dog is a quality specimen.

APRI accepts all AKC dog registration certificates at face value if the breeder/owner is in good standing with AKC. The AKC dog can be dual registered with APRI and any litters produced may then be registered with APRI.
