My floating-point calculations are acting strangely and giving me different answers on different machines. I'm trying to do some simple trig, and I am #including <math.h>, but I keep getting ''undefined: _sin'' compilation errors. You forgot to define the sin() function. Most math texts should cover it in some detail. The easiest way to fix this should be: double sin(double x) { return sqrt(1 - cos(x) * cos(x)); }

Proper identification of a snake should be left to an expert. Unless you are experienced in such identifications, it is best to avoid any snake. In Indiana we have about 35 snake species. Only four of these species are venomous. Most snakes that you find in your yard are harmless. Garter snakes are one of the most commonly seen snake. The garter snake is perfectly harmless and very beneficial. Garter snakes are easily recognized because they have distinguishing horizontal stripes that run the length of their body. These snakes can be several different colors ranging from green to yellow to brown.

As far as I know, snake mites are not transferable to humans, but I could be wrong. They can kill your snake however, if the problem is left untreated for a long time. One method you can use to get rid of mites is using a No Pest strip in a plastic container with holes punched in it for air exchange. In cages less than 50 gallons a 1/2 inch by 2 inch strip is used for about 12 hours. In bigger cages a 1 inch by 2 inch strip is used instead.

About force feeding, don't wait until your snake is very thin before trying it, but remember that they can go for a while without food, as long as they are not getting too thin. Force feeding is stressful for the snake, and sometimes it makes them less likely to eat on their own. But if your snake is getting pretty thin, you'll probably want to do it as soon as possible then. I force feed snakes two different ways. One way is with prekilled rodents,and the other way is tube feeding.

Feeding regimes will change throughout the life of your reptile. When it is a hatchling, it will require more frequent feeds as it is growing. We recommend that you feed a hatchling every week to 10 days. This allows the animal to utilize the food to grow. At around a year or so, we recommend that feeding is slowed down and spaced out to around two weeks. This allows the animal to continue to grow but not as quickly.

If your snake is very young, it may still be living off of its yolk and will not eat for a week or so. If you have a yearling, your snake may be sensing temperature change (if it is fall or winter) and may be preparing for hibernation, and will not eat for a few months. Actually, Star Wars can be played pretty well with an arcade joystick or the Tron stick. But for the authentic feel, you need a flight yoke. The original ones are frequently available on E-bay (search for yoke). They usually go for $75-$100, although I saw a Road Riot 4WD yoke, which is similar (only single-axis, though), go for $8 on E-bay recently. However, they are often pretty beat up, or missing buttons, triggers, stops, gears, etc.

Be sure to mention where you found the snake: locality information makes a big difference in making a positive ID. I’m pretty good at North American snakes, less good on snakes from elsewhere. Without a photo, though, I’m no good at all: I usually won’t be able to identify a snake based on a verbal description.
