Personal long distance phone calls are not allowed unless charged to personal calling cards. There should be a log sheet next to your phone. Please log any long-distance business calls you make without a card on this log sheet. There should be a printed copy of the Center's telephone directory in your mail tray when you arrive. More and more cell phones are working at Wildacres. You have to find the right spot and not move once you have found it. Incoming calls are tricky because you might not be in that special spot. Yes. Our on hold service is compatible with virtually all IP phone systems. However, a few IP phone systems do not have an external moh (music on hold) port. Increasingly the signal range is getting better. However, even CDMA phones have very limited reception on the Track, usually either near towns or on some hill tops. Standard GSM mobiles have no coverage on most of the Track. Mobile phones should never be used as the primary means of emergency contact. We recommend people carry an EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) on longer walks, particularly if they are walking on their own.

We configure the phones to suit your needs. The most common practise is to provide each tenant with a direct in-dial number which can divert on busy or no answer to your private voicemail box, mobile phone or home office. The voicemail messages may be retrieved remotely world-wide.
