For foreign applications, we require a TOEFL score of 600. While your GRE score is important, we have no specific cut-off for GRE scores, and consider the GRE score to be just one part of your overall application. All applicants must submit a GRE score to be considered for fellowships or graduate teaching assistantships.

You need to take the GRE only if your undergraduate GPA was below 3.0. You need to take the TOEFL only if you have no academic degrees from English-speaking countries. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) are administered by ETS.

The last acceptable deadline to take the GRE or TOEFL is in December. It is strongly recommended that you take the test prior to the application deadline. The January test dates are typically too late.

Initially, we advise an international applicant to attach photocopies of his/her score reports with the application, but official reports issued by ETS will be required before full processing of that application will take place. In some instances, the Graduate School will accept certified copies of these reports.

The department will notify you if they have not received them. If you have received official notification from UCSD, contact the department. If you're taking the TOEFL CBT the minimum score is 250. If it is available in your country and you are taking the TOEFL IBT, then the minimum score is a total of 80 points, with a minimum of 23 on the Speaking section. Individual departments may require higher scores. The IBT minimums are subject to change as we gain more experience on what these scores actually mean in terms of proficiency.

No minimum score has been set. Offers of admission, however, are based on merit and evaluation of the applicant's potential for academic success. Standardized test scores, therefore, are considered carefully and are an important element of the admissions process. In order to qualify for on-campus housing you must be a matriculated student. However, on-campus housing is very limited and is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

When should I apply? The deadline for fall admission is May 15, but we start admitting students early in February. Applications that are received after we have started the admission process have a reduced chance of admission because there will be fewer open positions remaining. For fall applicants, we recommend that the application be mailed no later than mid-January in order to have the best chance of admission. The answer to both questions is yes.

OSU requires a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in all previous undergraduate and graduate work for regular admission to graduate school. We require the general GRE exams; we do not require the GRE subject exam. (The average total GRE score for Statistics/Biostatistics students arriving with TA funding in autumn of 2001 was 1974; the median was 2020.

The Graduate School does require the GRE General Test, which includes verbal, analytical writing, and quantitative examination sections. The Subject Test is an additional test, which may or may not be required by the admitting department. Check the list of application deadlines and Subject Test requirements to find out whether your department requires the Subject Test in addition to the General Test.

The TOEFL is a mandatory university requirement and will not be waived unless the student has graduated from a US university or any other University where English is the official language of the country. TOEFL could be substituted with one of the following: pass the IELTS test (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum score of 6.0 (www.ceii.

The GRE must be taken by all interested applicants. For international or permanent resident students, the TOEFL exam is required unless you have an undergraduate degree from a U.S. institution.

I have been asked about the general structure of these tests. I don't intend to give an exhaustive write-up on this topic, as the information is freely available. Use the internet liberally. Some useful websites are www.gre.org , www.toefl.org, www.gradschools.com www.gradadvantage.com, www.kaplan.com, and scores of others. The application forms for the tests can be obtained for free from www.ipem.org. They will mail application forms to your mail address.

Students applying for admission in US Universities are from a large number of institutions not only from USA but also from countries all over the world. It is impossible for the admission authorities in US Universities to have reliable and up-to-date information on the relative merits of the certificates/degrees/marks/grades awarded by these diverse universities.

The GRE and TOEFL scores should be sent directly from ETS to Cornell University, university code 2098. Xeroxed copies of student scores do not constitute official scores. You should plan to take the tests allowing enough time for the official scores to arrive before the Field deadline; generally this process takes 3-4 weeks; however, it is recommended that the tests be taken no later than October due to the large volume of testing that occurs after that time.

We do not set any absolute cut-off point for these tests. However, you might want to note that the median for our most recent intake was 695 for GMAT, 1343 for GRE (verbal & quantitative), 620 for TOEFL and 7.0 for IELTS.

SAIS has no minimum GRE or GMAT score for M.I.P.P. applicants. However, M.I.P.P. applicants who have spent less than two years at an institution where English is the medium of instruction and whose native language is not English are required to submit a TOEFL score of at least 600 on the paper-based exam, 250 on the computer-based exam, or 100 on the Internet-based exam. Aoplicants submitting IELTS scores must score a minimum of 7.5.

No, we avoid rigid cutoffs, but if your Verbal GRE score is below 500 your application must be absolutely outstanding in other respects to be seriously considered.

Once you ask ETS to send score reports to UCSB, please allow two to three weeks for processing. Once your scores have arrived, Graduate Division will update your application status.

The Graduate Division does not set minimum score requirements for the GRE. For international applicants required to take the TOEFL or IELTS, the minimum TOEFL score is 550 when taking the paper based test, 213 when taking the computer based test, and 80 when taking the internet based test. The minimum IELTS score for consideration is an Overall Band Score of 7 or higher. TOEFL or IELTS scores can be no more than two years old at the time of application.

The GRE is not required at this time. The TOEFL exam is required of all foreign graduates and the minimum acceptable score is 300. These results should be forwarded to CASPA during the application process. The WCMC institution code is 2250.
